Well according to my memory, I was explained that the custom dyno tune at regular price is $1490 + whatever the shop charges for using its dyno machine (usually around $100 or less).
He explained that I'd be getting $500 off their regular price of $1490 which equals $990. Then I'd have to pay $200 on top of that for Powerchip's dyno tuning time. $990 + $200 = $1190 + whatever the shop charges to use their dyno machine. I don't think I made a mistake in my understanding, but I'm only human so I may make a mistake once in a blue moon. Regardless, we'll let Mike jump in to clear the confusion. |

I think a good way to increase the count is to ask Mike if Power Chip is willing to do tunes on the e46 or 335? If so, one of us could easily create a thread in e90post.com or e46fanatics.com and include a link to this thread. That will definitely draw some attention.

Got a buddy with an e46M who may be interested, however, I think he's trying to get into an e92 at the moment

If they're going to have it this month then I can't make it since I've got projects up the wha-zoo every weekend & also part of next month. The earliest I can make it down to H-town would be mid-to-end of October. If that's the case then I'll prolly hold off on the custom tune until another time if it takes place this month.

^I'm down for anything after the first weekend of October. September is going to be a b!tch for me as well. Now the exhaust comparo is a different story, that weekend works for me, though its on a very special day.
TLud, Thanks again for the PM. Its an expensive hobby, but I'm about to ruin my knees with running.--JC

This is getting really interesting, I have Dinan exhaust only, and I've been considering Dinan tune and intake, but looks like this is the better way to go, and the fact that the tune may be undetectable by dealers is just +++, I'll keep a closer eye on this, and I only live like 15 minutes away from Vivid Racing... One question though, how does Powerchip change gas mileage?

I'm just in it for getting my M3 personally dyno tuned by Jeremy @ Powerchip, especially since I've heard EXTREMELY good things of him when it comes to tuning our e9x M3. So as long as I can get that personal custom dyno tune from him, I don't mind waiting for a month or two. |

Can put me in as a possible +1, especially if it's in late October/November.
Question: How will the tune affect the "Power" setting in i-drive of "Sport" and "Sport-Plus?" Will they be the same across the board? Will the "Power" button and the "Sport-plus" setting in i-drive still give an added throttle response? |

TLud:
The tune will include raising the rev limiter to 8450 RPM (in gears 3 and above), removing the top speed limiter, and if requested we can do the 6MT *launch control* option. The redline and top speed limiter removal are standard practice, along with the timing and fueling changes, target cylinder filling changes, throttle response and throttle body control maps. You are correct on all of the pricing you have outlined. Nawaaz: You are correct. You will be getting the custom stage II tune, which is the last option that TLud listed. It's normally 1490 + 500, but the special price is 1190 + the dyno time. Franklin79: We are willing to tune any car. In fact, I have a C63 on schedule as it is. E46's and E9x Turbo's are not a problem. If anyone has any other cars, please let me know and we can actually add those cars to the running list here. That will help me in getting an accurate tally to coordinate the event. Remember that we also tune all of the German and Italian exotic cars as well, all the way down to chip burning on OBD-I cars. I agree that we need to allocate enough time for this to happen smoothly. October/November is fine. Let's get a good list going and then we can solidify the dates. scott1026: As far as gas mileage, in normal driving most of our customers have seen a slight increase in mileage because the tune is optimized for the type of gas you are using. Of course if you are mashing on it all day your mileage will not be that great. I got 18.6 MPG yesterday driving from Powerchip back to my house. Not bad considering my driving which is usually pretty brisk. DaFool: There are changes to all three modes. Normal becomes slightly more aggressive, sport becomes slightly more aggressive, and with sport plus you should seal all of the liquids in the car. However, there is variability on these adjustments. Can you guys please make an updated running list? It looks like we almost have enough to come out there for the trip. Sorry for the short answers, I am slammed today! Please let me know if I missed anything. Mike

Updated list: (please make changes if necessary):
1. TXM32B 2. TLud 3. King Tut 4. Nucking Futs! 5. Ajax-Prime 6. Nawaaz7. 7. frankzlin79 (?) 8. JC919 + friend (?) 9. scott1026 (?) 10. DaFool (?) If we get confirmation from the last four on the list, it looks like this is a solid go. For those unsure on #'s 7-10, let me know so I can solidify your spot, or remove you from the list. Thanks everyone for your support. The way things are going we will be seeing you soon. If you know anyone in the area who is interested in the tune or refer them to me, I will offer a further discount to you. The more people we have on the list, the more worthwhile the trip will be for us, and the more incentive I can give you back

I hear that's when our wheels are arriving. Don't worry, I'll be around to pick them up for you. I'll start a poll in the Southwest forum for interested parties to pick dates that work for them.
