E93 M3 Drivetrain Noise Help

If you have the exact noise from the YouTube, it's definitely a driveshaft u-joint problem, I've had the car checked at a place I trust. They told me the u-joint has plenty of meet left and that I should avoid changing unless the noise gets unbearable.

Your Guibo is going out, there no need to rebuilt or replace new drive shaft.
cheap and simple fix !

The drive shaft clunk is not normal, it sounds embarrassing to drive around. It will definitely get worst as something is loose somewhere. I had mine changed and i felt safe going at high speed.

I have the exact same noise and had my driveshaft repaired as there aren't any replacement parts available (apparently has been on backorder for months with no sign of it being restocked). My guy thinks its the differential so I'm swappiing it out this weekend. Hopefully fixes the problem.

try swap out the new Guibo and replace a new one with OEM.
Should fix it.

Hi Godzilla, did you have the exact noise and this part you recommend did fix it? It's driving me crazy, I'll order it today if this is the case.

Monterey, I actually just got it out of the shop yesterday for this and a few other issues. This issue they could not pin point to the drive shaft or any part of the drive line. They said all those components were in great shape. They felt it was in the transmission but couldn't pin point it since they could not duplicate the issue when it was on a lift. They could put a load on it but it would not repeat on a lift. I'm not going to crack the transmission open yet for a maybe. Still living with the issue. Car drives great.

This part will not cause this noise when worn out. You'll get a lot of vibration before this part fails.

Did they drop the exhaust to look? I don't think they can do a visual without taking things apart. I ordered the part and will give it a try. Mine is getting louder. It makes sense that a rubber part has failed.

I think it is the left flange failure. We have short left flange of the differential... So we have this:

I have this problem already one year and seems that progressive... Thinking to change my diff to some other lsd...

Mine was the flex disc, i am sure there might be other causing the noise.

One of the member changed the CV joint and the noise is gone.

I have a 2009 m3 dct that ticks between 5mph and 25ish mph and after 25mph it rumbles and vibrates. I'm replacing the driveshaft with a carbon fiber one piece deive shaft. when the engine is warm you can feel the driveshaft slop and spool even hearing the u joint flex and clink when transitioning from on to off power, I have already replaced the flex disc and know that it is good. no play in the differential. fluids were changed within the past 12 months.

I believe it is actually the inner ball joint on the CV joint. I just ordered one for my car today and am replacing it.

I just did my center support bearing and I no longer get the noise. Driveshaft looked to be in good shape. Might do the guibo later on.

Went and got the same shaft support right after watching it.

Although I'm not 100% positive that it will totally resolve the clinking of my prop shaft during every move-off from 1st gear, I am pretty sure that the existing support is one weak point and hopefully, help with that clinking metal one way or the other.
