Lost "P" for DCT

My car wont go into Park mode when i shut it off...

I keep getting " transmission position P is not engaged " when i turn the car off. even with the keyfob in my pocket.

It will shift into P mode if i manualy mess around with the park selector under the shift boot. And seems to park itself after 30min, But it wont automatically come on anymore after i turn the car off....


Anyone else run into this problem?

I've had the same thing happen to me about 15% of the time. I'm wondering whether it has to do something with how far up I crank that handbrake?

I think i diagnosed the problem...the little level under the shift boot that you use to put into N (for towing) when the car is off does not return to the P position when i turn my car off.

I have to manually use my screw driver to put it into the P and the car will go into P. When you put into Drive mode that little level will fall down to N position to release P. for a normal DCT it will go back to upright position to "park" the car when ignition is cut. My car will just stay in the N position...it wont revert back upright to P, i have to manually do it with my screw driver everytime if i want the "p" and not use handbrake.

I always just put it into N with handbrake. Don't even worry about Park when handbrake is on, like a 6speed.

thing is, your car will auto go into "P" when you turn the car off, and you put handbreak on.

I lost the "P" setting when i turn off my car
