Relative rarity of m3

I live on Long Island NY. Ever since I got on market for an M3 I've been looking out for them on the road. Very few! There are a lot of 335i xdrive and Audi S4. I bet there are a ton in Cali and FL.

There are a ton in LA. Where I live I've seen 3 other e9x m3s in the last year or so.

M3's are not rare. Audi rs4's which are in the same class are rare.

Aside from looking at a dealers inventory, I haven't come across one since last June. Plenty of E46 M3's and 328/335xi's (coupes and sedans).

In Cali you see at least 2 every hour you're out driving.

My town has a total of 5 or perhaps 6 M3's and a few M5's and M6.

In Huntington I've seen over 5 different RS4 and maybe 2 e9x M3's.

My point is LI drivers are so scardy cats. Everyone thinks they need 4 wheel drive. My m3 with snow tires is going to do better on LI with snow than your S4 quattro with performance tires. It would be interesting to see sales stats by region.

I noticed them a lot before. I guess there are more in the Great Neck area than the Huntington area.

My daily commute is taking Pacific Coast Highway from my house in Monarch Beach (south Laguna) up to Newport Beach. The usual times of my commute are 9am and 6pm. In the past few years, I may have seen only a handful of M3's...and I look for them.

However, I will see at least 10 AMG's every single day. Some Ferrari's. Many Porsche's, including GT3's and lots of M5's and M6's. Heck, I've seen more Veyron's lately than M3's.

My guess is that I'm driving with the commuters...and the M3 as a commuter car doesn't appeal to the general populous here in South OC. Cool because I will soon be in a M3

Where I live currently I see maybe 1 stock one every 5 months. Modified maybe 1 every year unless there is a meet.

Its all relative to where you live. We are talking E92 and E90 M3s, not E46 and E36 M3s which I rarely see unless I am at Horsepower Freaks in Portland.
