VIDEO: Dinan Exhaust vs. Active Autowerke Signature Exhaust (E92)

This is the best (probably the only one actually) video that compares the Dinan exhaust (Tlud) and the Active Autowerke Signature exhaust (mine) at various driving conditions. We hope you enjoy.

Whoa, looks like a moderator came in and embedded my video for me. Thanks. Now that I see how the code is done, I can do it from now on.

Wow, nice video editing, Frank!

Your AA has a really, really nice tone from outside.

You like that editing huh? To be honest, this was my FIRST edited video. I used iMovie on my Macbook Pro for the first time tonight and just learned how to use it within minutes. I love Macs.

I honestly think the two exhausts sound the SAME in the video. However, in person, there is a difference. I think the AA is slightly raspier and noticeable louder.

I just remembered, we made all the runs without the M button on. (Well, I don't know about your car, but for me, M button turns on Power and sets DSC to Sport.)

Man, that's amazing. I like my T400, but I should have gotten a Macbook.

I think the first part of the video (revving the engines at standstill) really captures the differences in the tones of these two exhausts. The drive-by shots sound almost exactly the same for both exhausts.

Yeah, we should have done a video with the M mode activated, and we also should have done drive away shots. Newbs!

Yeah, talk about amateur videographers here. We will know how to do it next time. I also forgot to ask you to film my virgin attempt at Launch Control. I've never used LC before and the road we were on would have been perfect.

The first video you took where you were close to my car was actually a decent video, except for the wind noise, because the sound level was about the same as the video I took of your car standing still (makes for a better comparison). The actual video used in my video edit made my AA sound weak, because you were standing so far away =p

I'll post the first video of my car in a bit.

That would have been cool to see because I've never seen or tried LC before.

I see how it is, ripping on my videography skills. It's no Remus Race with straight mid-pipes, but that AA is definitely not weak!

Active Autowerke Signature Exhaust - Revving at Idle

Here is the first video. Sorry for the noise. The camera man didn't know how to use his body to block the wind at first.

honestly...I didn't think the video was that great but it did show some of the differences between the systems. I am SLIGHTLY (LOL) biased and don't think the Dinan system sounds that great...it is very quiet and doesn't really show off the qualities of the V8...in person I may change my mind but AA kicks its a$$ IMO.

I hope the next time you all do some videos that you all step on it a little more!!! let that V8 SINGGGGGGGGGGGG

Very nice effort. I am sure it'll be enjoyed and analyzed by many. Too bad you didn't have a stock exhaust on hand to compare in the same conditions.

I think they both sound great. For my money, I would go AA. I like the bassy sound that it puts out a bit more.

The AA definitely sounds amazing and gives the M3 a pair. If the M3 was just a weekend car for me, I'd take the AA for sure.

The Dinan is for understated guys like me who want a little more of an edge, but are sensitive to loud exhausts (or who have wives/gf who are sensitive to loud exhausts). On a scale from 1 to 10, where 1 is someone who is perfectly happy with the stock exhaust and 10 is someone who'd dump the exhaust as close to the headers as possible, I'd consider myself a 2, which is Dinan's target customer for this application.

+1. It's nice to see a comparison video, since all the other vids with different cameras, acoustics, etc make it hard to tell any real differences. I too appreciate the deeper sound of the AA.

I think both sound quite quiet to me. Or is that just the vid? The Meisterschaft exhaust sounds much better than both imo.

However this is the exact type of video we need to find that out. Great work.

Cheers

Like all videos, this one makes both exhausts sound significantly quieter than they are from the outside. The real value of this video is as a basis for comparison.

Like the videos, but the exhausts are still a little quiet for my taste. Nonetheless, each exhaust is still amazing.

I'm sure a lot of members appreciate this vid, myself included.

You can take your negativity and take a hike to the land of obnoxiously loud exhausts! There's no way I'm letting you try out my SSK now.

Edit: Just in case my sarcasm and humor was lost, I kid.
