Akra Evo with Tune

Guys,
I am looking at getting a BPM Tune or similar for my car with the GTS tune for the DCT.

One question if anyone has done this after having a Full Akro Evo on their car for a while, and their experience regarding torque and power.

Reason is I took the same 2012 e92 M3 Comp DCT unmodified for a drive (car swap with a mate) and was not impressed with the stock performance at all. When he drove mine with only the Full Akra Evo on it, he mentioned and I agree that is has significantly more power lower down and much more responsive than his.

I am wondering if the gain in the tune is worth the effort and money. Keen to hear from anyone that has done this:

Stock -> Akra Evo Full -> Tune

Thanks

You'll gain about 20HP with just the primary cats deleted.
Evolve has an "akra" tune that's supposed to help with some loss of torque down low.
The tune may gain another 10-20hp with the EVO system.
I did it for the check engine light delete. I don't think I can feel the difference in power before or after the tune.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

That's what I was thinking would happen, I have the Delete-R to avoid the engine light, so not an issue here..

If you had a chance again to just remove the engine light and not spend money on the tune, would you not get one?

Cheers

Definitely don't pay more than $60 for a DCT tune it's a simple coding job that tuners rip people off for. Some of these crooks charge $1000.

Where would one find somewhere to do it for no more than $60? Can this be done as a DIY?

Not really a DIY. I think Alex@Alpinemss charges $60. He did mine.

I'd go BPM all day. Mike is a great guy and really knows what he is doing.

I went with Alpine's stage 2 tune on a full Akra Evo exhaust. The additional power gains from both can certainly be felt. I've never used BPM but I'm sure they are comparable to Alpine. I would definitely do this as this will bring the car to it fullest potential with the exhaust.

Thanks everyone..

I was looking (and still am) to get the tune, it was more a question of how much more torque/power you would notice, or specific you WILL notice the tune on an AkraEvo car..

Cheers

No question you will notice a pretty sizable gain. We had an Akra Evo on our car for 4-5 years before going with long tube headers. We also spent some time fine tuning the VANOS parameters for for Akra system, as it's one of the few systems that has an H pipe. You will definitely love the tune and please don't hesitate to reach out to us to discuss!

If CEL is not an issue, I would suggest you to go with the latest BMW software. My expericence with Gintani tune shows that there's no difference between two, Vbox verified. I had multiple runs with and without the tune on the same day.

My friend (also 2012 btw) has BPM tune and his car showed the same time, although we did not run it on 241e and I can't really tell if there's difference or not.
My other friend (2013) is running 241e without any CEL delete or whatever, yet he's showing the best times.

Hope this helps

UPD: every car has Akra evo

Thanks again for everyone pointing me in the right direction!

The AUD to USD is crap at the moment, but will be looking forward to a BPM with GTS Tune in the near future.

BTW... Love the Akra!!!!
