I’m back!
Man it feels good. Details to follow but some pics of the new (to me) M3.
*** UPDATE*** February 27, 2018 So I skipped one update and that was about a month ago when I added some fresh rubber. 255/275 and love it! Last Friday I stopped by autocouture again to swap out my Gintani exhaust for a stock with ACM mod. I couldn’t be happier. The exhaust has the exact low grumble I was looking for, zero drone, and screams at WOT. Also added spacers and love those as well. Loving the car! ***UPDATE*** December 21, 2018 So i finally had the time to take her to AutoCouture and get things dialed in. First, i could not possibly speak more highly of Matt@autocouture, Jeff@autocouture, sam@autocouture and the rest of the guys there. It was such a great time just shooting the breeze with true enthusiast. That coupled with the fact that they are consummate professionals had me sold, i will make the 1.5 hour drive to them for all my M3 needs. Second, hearing Sam tell me that the car was in incredible shape was such a relief. This was my first venture into the used M3 market and i did so with some trepidation. Some people told me to stay away as people beat on these cars and others told me they were bullet proof. It was very calming to hear Sam tell me that the prior owner took great care of it. Today was mostly peace of mind updates with a small bit of fun thrown in. When i bought the car i wanted to try to bring it to as close to "new" as i could so i could take care if it the way i know it needs to be taken care of. Today resulted in 1) 6MT transmission fluid flush, 2) Differential flush and fluid change, 3) coolant flush and fluid change, 4) brake fluid flush, 5) power steering fluid flush, 6) oil change, and 7) spark plugs. With only 38k on the clock some of the above was likely an over precaution but it really does give me peace of mind that most maintenance is up to date. We'll save rod bearings for another day.. Now, the fun stuff that i added was body matching front reflectors, black hood vents, black side vents, and black M3 badge in the rear. To my surprise AutoCouture had a set of OEM carbon splitters that they were willing to sell to me so i added those in for good measure. Overall, as mentioned above, i couldn't be happier. These guys are the best of the best and i can completely understand why their reputation is what it is on this forum. I will be back soon for tires, and who knows what else. Apologies for the crappy pictures, it was pouring all day, the next nice day we get i'll clean her up and take some better photos. Thanks guys, Justin Last edited by grundlehunter; 02-27-2019 at 08:26 AM.. Reason: Updated |

From GTI to F80 (insert wife finding out she's pregnant) back to a GTI to E92. I should have skipped a few of those steps and just bought an E92 first. Ah well. Either way, the F80 was a blast and a lot faster than this car but this one just has the feels. Now working on expanding the M garage by adding an F80 to compliment the E92. Likely a few years away but i suppose i can dream. The car came with a few fun pieces like a Gintani exhaust, carbon high kick spoiler, carbon side view mirror covers, and partially tinted. Step 1 - Off to Autocouture to get everything refreshed and dialed in. Then i suppose i'll need to start entertaining the rod bearing issue (though it only has 38k miles). Either way, i've been a fan of this forum for a long time, long before i ever registered or posted. I look forward to participating a bit more now that i have something to contribute. |

If it's gone 38k on bearings it should go 100,000 miles on them. I did mine at 147,000. They showed wear but not ready to fail.

That is comforting to hear. I'll likely do them in the next 6 months to a year. The reason being is that i have no way of knowing how the car was driven before i bought it. Likely over cautious on my part but i'd rather start fresh with bearings i know the history of.

I do love the white though. Frankly, there aren't really any E9x colors I don't like. |

OP - glad you've learned the difference between speed (F80) and engagement (E9X) through your automotive boomerang.
Welcome back and, this time around, stay a while. |

It will be removed. I had an appointment with AutoCouture in December for some preventstive stuff and a few small goodies. It was Benzel-Busch Mercedes where I purchased it.

Congrats! 8 months ago I got a e92 exactly like yours after 4 years in a mineral white/fox e92 from 2012-2016.
