Thumbs down 2011 M3 Help-Idrive

Well $#!t

I just recently bought a 2011 BMW M3 and I am new to BMW. It has the screen with navigation and bluetooth for my phone etc......But come to find out it was mfg in 2010 and it doesnt blue tooth stream music and the map are garbage. I talked to the equivalent to BMW genius bar and they pretty much told me I am out of luck and there is nothing I can do to upgrade. WTF.

Is there no way I get upgrade and get Bluetooth stream and office for email and text?

Am I screwed?

Is there an aftermarket computer I can get? If not this stock crap is absolute garbage. $40,000. worth of garbage.

I dont know shit about it or BMW but there has to be a solution out there.

Please help. Thanks

I believe you have the CIC which is the 2nd generation of the navigation. To upgrade the maps you can search in the coding forum for map updates which you can do via USB. http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=995711

As for bluetooth, you should have bluetooth phone audio.. but for music audio, you may have to buy an bluetooth ipod adapter + bmw y-cable or the Tune2air WMA1000, and connect to that to play music.

I have 2008 and my navigation/bluetooth stuff is sooooooo primative.. but it works..

and it's only about $2000 worth of garbage..

What you're looking for to allow bluetooth streaming and better integration with your phone is a Combox retrofit, such as this one: http://www.bimmer-tech.net/shop/bmw-...a-pnp-retrofit . After all is said and done, more like $750 than $2k. Patryck can also help with updating your maps.

Just get the tune2air. Works just like OEM Bluetooth streaming.

Just cause you can't bluetooth stream or have updated maps, your M3 is garbage? Maybe this car isn't for you...

But constructively,

Try Tune2Air 3000 & updating maps on a USB stick = cheapest option, but still lacking some features

Contact Benvo for a retrofit/coding magic = all features...

I went the BPM route, Mike Benvo is a great resource, and his Combox upgrade will bring the features you currently desire.
