Please take my money before I buy new stock pieces!

As you can see there is considerable demand for these.

The stock pieces are shaped like that for a reason.

I guess if your car is too low that the felt piece is a problem, you probably don't care about aerodynamic anyway.

Coming from modified JDM cars, the more I drive m3, the more appreciate OEM design.

To each his own.

try cutting a piece of plastic and then try cutting a piece of aluminum with a regular knife or sharp rock. the purpose is to protect the underbody so the stronger (in this case aluminum) the better.

had an aluminum skid plate on my audi that replaced the plastic undertray. as long as it's machined properly, it's by far the better option. used to have to replace the plastic after every winter. found the aluminum alternative and went 4 winters without changing it.

Final prototype is being cut and test fitment will, most likely, be this weekend. If test fitment is good we should have good pics and a price set by early next week. Right now, the cost is looking like $250 plus actual shipping cost to your location.

Just got word from my friend... shop has cut the proto and it's ready to be picked up. It will be test fit on Friday. That's as soon as the test car can get by there. Moving right along!

I'm the guy making this part for the OP, he asked me to come in here and post to this topic.

Short answer to that question is no, this is not a splitter. More or less a Skid plate.

The part however can be modified to work in the same way as the stock piece, but if the part gets caught on something with these flanges in place the part could could get torn up.

This part should be fine on the average drivers car or someone who's doing spirited driving without issue. Again this really depends on how much front end down force you want which most splitters will provide.

PM if you have more questions.

Pics of prototype?

To confirm, This will get rid of the left and right felt aero under the bumper, if wanted?

Alternatively, you can modify the aluminum skid plate to work with the under aero - correct?

I'm in for a unit. My neighbors are in a p*ssing contest over speed down our shared access, and one is putting in gravel speed bumps that has shredded my felt pieces. No other damage, but still a PITA.

Any word on if the flanges that direct air into the oil cooler were able to be feasibly incorporated without killing the pricepoint?

I have an APR splitter already but I've recently taken it off and put back on the stock undertray. Was just wondering if the flat tray would cause lift or whatever else it may be when doing high speed driving.

Would love one as well, especially if you can get the aero part to work as intended by those crazy wind tunnel folk. Even if it brings the cost up to $400 and it's a put on and forget about this forever part, it should be worth it, since these parts seem to be increasing in price every year. Current quote for all 3 pieces is $330 shipped from ECS and it doesn't seem like they were replaced in the last 6 years.

seems like a good idea. however the current under carriage parts are made to flex quite a bit. this all metal version won't move at all. I'm concerned that if it does get hung up on something, the damage to the front lip and other attachment points could cause a lot more damage than the factory felt one.

Use plastic/nylon screws to attach. They become the weak point.

Ok guys as promised, attached are the pictures of the 1st version of this Fitted.

I had to custom make the Duct work on this, please keep in mind this part will require some minor drilling and assembly but shouldn't take more than a couple of hours to complete the whole install.

I'll do the procedures for the assembly tools needed etc...

Pretty much all of the hardware can be reused when mounting.

I'm going to make some final round of tweaks to this part and then have 1st order of 11 made

Stay posted, I have to finalize pricing but the added cost of making the duct and all the materials is prob gonna add like $50- $60 since I'm the one man operation that's gonna be fabricating all this up.I went back and forth painstakingly to get this just right but as you can see the seals hit just how they do on the stock piece.
