I Built these my self, they are made I stainless steel. It's easy to crawl under the car for a oil change and the car is levelled.

If you have only one jack but can get some sections of plank, you can change the oil. You can make ramps out of 2x12 plank to get the car up a little. Or just jack on wheel at a time and put 2 short sections of plank underneath. Do same for all 4 wheels. You need to get the car just high enough for your oil drain pan won’t be crushed when you lower the car. Then jack up one front side or the center enough for you to remove the two drain plugs. Lower back to level and let it drain. Then put the plugs back in and refill.

I did stuff like this years ago. I can also remember parking with one side on a curb so I needed to raise only one side. Eventually I got 4 jack stands, ramps, multiple jacks and then lifts. Had a lift for past 10 years.

Be smart. Don’t go under the car unless you are certain it is secure. If you have a couple of spare wheels, push them under. Or salvage some old timber if you can find it.

After you drain the oil, you need to unbolt and disconnect the oil cooler because there's a lot more in there than the little bit you are worried about by not getting it level.

While you are at it, bolt the chassis on a rotisserie and flip it upside down to get whatever amount that getting it level didnt get.

The difference between totally level and just the front lifted is minuscule. There's no need to get all four up for a change on this car.

Park one side on the curb and jack up the other 2 sides.. that’s how we used to do it back in the days.

has anyone installed a bimmerworld dip stick during a rod bearing job? I wonder if you'd be able to suck out all the oil from above with an extractor and be done with it. It would way easier

Short answer: Not really.

Longer answer: The reason it won't work is that it's installed into a side mounted 90 degree fitting, so you won't be able to get the suction tube to the bottom of the pan. Even though I don't think it's important to get every bit of oil out, I think you'd end up with too much left.

In just casually looking around, I like this kit a lot better from a design perspective:
https://www.amspeedracing.co.uk/prod...-dipstick-kit/

I can't vouch for it in any way, but a top mounted dipstick kit *might* allow a suction tube through (note that I am not 100% confident that you'll reliably get past the threaded fitting). More importantly, it won't let your oil fall out the side of the pan if it fails.
