I believe it actually should be "an" M3 which is what I would say. In general, "an" is used instead of "a" when preceding a word that begins with a vowel sound (not necessarily a vowel). As M3 is pronounces "em three" it starts with a vowel sound (the sound of a soft E) thus requiring the use of "an". |

OP, there are enough used M3's for sale. It's more important to have known history vs. going for the first one and paying (literally) for the mistake. Whether purchasing private or from a dealer consider bringing it to an Indy shop for peace-of-mind.

Not to fan the fire on a thread that has already spun out of control. Think of it this when when you say it out loud what do you say. I drive a M3 or an M3? I usually say an M3 but I think a M3 is gramatically correct. It doesn't matter just get one but NOT that One!!!

Same here every 5K I do it and and the dealer does one
Have 12K miles, I have paid for 2 Oil changes and the dealer has done the mandatory checkup at 1,200 miles. The new maintenance schedule minimizes costs for BMW not beneficial to the car, IMHO,

I did bring irrefutable evidence in my post above. The word M3 starts with a vowel sound and thus requires "an". Not sure what being an acronym or not has anything to do with this.

It's "an". M3 does start with a vowel because it's spelled out "Em Three"

This. If you say,"A M3", it sounds like you need to do a few more years of school.
