The $69K is for the wife and me on long trips, and shorter trips with the kids. The minivan is for the longest trips with kids. The E93 is also my DD in better weather with a CRV for winter duty.

Nothing wrong with swinging multiple cars and each has a different "purpose". The M3 is meant to be driven, but there is a limit to practicality in it.

If could not have the E93, then E90 all day long. Extremely similar performance, with a little more practicality.

Love the E90 for what it is... a beast with some practicality.
But if I had my druthers for a coupe alternative, it wouldn't necessarily be the E92.
It would probably be the 1M!

It was the only way I could get the wife to agree (that and getting rid of my S2000 that could of course not carry a toddler legally. With that said, I do sometimes wish I would have gotten the coupe. The only real reason is that I want to keep the car and if I turn it into a track car, it would be easier with a coupe. Taking the back seats out of a sedan would look plain weird

I bought a e93 instead of the planned e90, regreted it. sold the e93 regreted it. still planning the purchase of the e90.

dun do it! if you're already regretting not getting an e92, then you will be a very unhappy man once you buy the e90. i've learned from my mistakes in the past, i bought a sedan cuz i thought it was the more logical/sensible choice and regretted it subconsciously for years. now that i have a great coupe, all is well with the world and couldn't be happier.

This is such a inconclusive topic... some guys think the E90 is more aggressive looking and I completely disagree. Some guys like the rear end and I think it looks like bug eyes. Am I right? Nope, cause it's all just an opinion. I think the coupe is much sportier, sexier and gets MUCH more attention. Others will disagree... what does this prove? Only that we each like what we like. Every simple M3post member could post their preference and it likely won't change any other member's opinion on what they like.

There is only one thing true in this entire debate... those who like the E92 better clearly have better taste than the guys who somehow like the E90 better. j/k

In all seriousness, even though I much prefer the E92, I still ansolutely love the E90... especially in dark colors. If the E92 didn't exist, I would happily buy an E90.

E92 looks too much like a 335 coupe. I did not want a sedan at first but when I saw one on the road it cought my eyes much more than the coupe, but I would still rock the E92, both great cars just an additional two doors.

Huh? How does an e92 look more like a 335 coupe than an M sedan looks like a e90 335?

I'd argue that the coupe is more distinguished from its lesser brethren by a carbon fiber roof. Other than that, the m sedan and m coupe each have the same number of different body panels over their non-M variant counterparts...

Both the E90 and E92 look comparably different from the standard 3 series but with the coupe also having the benefit of the CF roof. On a lighter color car, this makes the most significant visual difference.

Oh I totally get that there are times when you NEED extra space, passenger capacity, towing capacity, etc. but not DDing a car that costs this much strikes me like buying a $20K couch and not sitting on it or buying a million-dollar beach house and living in the front yard. Kind of like having to drive a beater most days to "save" the M. It just strikes me as a waste of money and almost like you're being punished with said beater so you can drive the M a couple of times a month.

I absolutely agree that there are times when you need more of something the M doesn't have, but not DD'ing it or not driving it in bad weather isn't it.

I guess I'll just never be that guy with multiple cars under covers in the garage. No judgement, just something I can't wrap my head around.

I don't plan on ever selling my M5, so I have to drive something else sometimes or it's going to get expensive to keep it rolling. Not driving your favorite car that's clean and waxed in crappy weather when you can take something else better suited for it is a far cry from hiding them under covers all the time and never using them. We only have one kid so a minivan is totally unnecessary for us, but I can see wanting extra space with a big family on a long trip. Use the right tool for the job. There's a reason not every tool in my workshop is not a hammerdrill, even though it's one of the funnest to use :-)

Who ever said c63 for practicality deserves to be slapped.

Anyway, I'm not an e90 owner, I own an e92m3. Do I ever think about the e90M3, nope - I like the M5s. But, the e90s look very aggressive and will keep you happy for a long time.

The only MAJOR practical difference between the coupe and sedan is entry and exist of the backseat, otherwise the e92 has a pretty big trunk and fold down back seat is also key in opening up a ton of space.

Get the E93 if you live in warm climate. If not get the 2 door. I like the look better.

I still see them as a car and for me, cars get driven daily. It's just the way I'm wired. I don't see the point of buying something not to use it. Even an M5 is still just a car and is designed to be driven in all weather types and to get dirty. That's the whole point of waxing it, to protect it from driving it in crappy weather.

Like I said, it's just the way I am. I don't "get it" and probably never will.
