Plugs and coils question

Hello, just got my first new-to-me E93 M3 and was looking at some preventative maintenance I want to do ( I service our 335i and 135i for pretty much all maintenance).

1. Are the NKG's OK for replacement spark plugs? FCPEURO says they are the OEM and I believe them, just want to be sure. Car has 42K and there is no indication plugs have been done in the carfax.

2. Injector coils. Wow...$229 for one? I assume the Bosch at $100 is equivalent? Either way, this is a way different cost than the N54/N55 coilpacks. How often should I replace or do you just wait for one to fail? I have replaced my N54/N55 ones as sets about every 30K, but that's going to be pricey to do on the M3...lol.

TIA.

The OEM plugs are NGKs.

Coil pack prices are bonkers right now- and hard to find anywhere. Was not like this a few years ago- and quite possibly will go back to a more sane price once the supply chain stabilizes. No maintenance interval on them- but if you only have 42K on them you should be good for quite a while. The people I see that have coil plug issues are closer to 100k.

Also give this thread a read. It will show you exact replacements for OEM parts from the original manufacture. They are usually the exact same part just without the BMW stamp on them:

No need to replace coils preventively. Use them til they break then replace only the broken one. Coil #7 has a habit of dying first.

I would leave coil packs alone, and only replace when needed with OEM spares. (personal preference). For plugs NGK worked great for me in the past never had an issue. Also gives you a decent look at who healthy the motor is when pulling the plugs.

RockAuto has some aftermarket coils "WVE 5C1699" for $58ea. Is it worth trying these or stick to the $250 OEM ones?

I would go with rockauto. Sometimes bmw has crazy markups. Brake master cylinder comes to mind as it's like 7x cheaper on rockauto and other places
