Max oil warning worries

About 3 or so days ago, I decided to top up my M3's oil, and I stupidly put too much in, I wouldn't imagine I put way too much in, but enough to give me an 'oil level too high' message. After a quick search of the effects of high oil level, I am extremely paranoid as I put quite a bit of high mileage and hard driving the day after I overfilled it (didn't check the oil until after). This morning, I had to drive the car, I went to start it (got very cold overnight), and on cold start it started with an extremely rough idle, and eventually bogged out/stalled. I know the simple and only solution is to simply drain a bit of oil, but I have been without an access to a floor jack or an oil extractor pump for the last few days. Any help, or opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You answered it. Loosen the front drain plug and let some oil out.

How much did you put in?

Easiest way is to syphon it out from oil filter housing, which is about 1/10th of a liter bottle.

It shouldn't be an issue whatsoever.

People that build the s65 race engines recommend to race this engines with half a quart over the max level.

I raced my car with the oil slightly higher the top level with no issues. It was not even smoking…

Unless you added like a quart or more over the top, I wouldn't be concerned.
And it wouldn't cause the rough idle. It must be something else.

I'd love a source for these "people", and the race engine isn't an S65.

OP - the car is telling you it's too much oil. You can listen to random advice on the internet or simply drain a little out.
