Shit. I just cut mine. That one does look nice. I also finished wrapping the neck.

Well, they've been around for a while. Go to the various E46 forums and speak bad of Karbonius and you'll be treated like if you slapped your mom.

It's unfortunate we're having some teething issues but there's zero doubt that they will be resolved.

Meanwhile both my airboxes rub badly as I haven't requested an exchange yet but I still run them... the sound is too glorious not to.

Karbonius is the one doing most of the work. I reminded them when Mark made the comment but they've been working on it all along.

It's a tight fit, but overall good. Like others, my intake lid snorkel screw wouldn't reach.
I can't shut my hood yet, I have to grind the support beam for my trackspec hood vents.
I also changed the spark plugs- and I'm pretty confident the car will turn on again.

Can't drive it yet! Can't shut the hood and I don't have time to grind before work. Lol

Another thing- there is no way I can fit the itg filter. It has a nub on the end of it and it's about 1" too long. I ended up putting on an old MS filter I had.
I remember there was a filter adapter variation somewhere around the lci cars arrived. I have a 2011.5... I think that might be my problem.

edit- i might just run my afe neck/filter with the karbonius plenum until i figure out what is going on with the filter. i think my nub is a little too long (lol). there appears to be a small gap under the neck and airbox, and i'm not thrilled with how it connects without a grommet.

Karbonius Plenum

I’m trying to decide between this and eventuri. I’m leaning towards Karbonius, but I am worried about rubbing.

I have Dinan strut braces and a Dinan intake.

Will this Plenum now fit, without any rubbing issues? I still want to keep all the Dinan parts. I figure because Eventuri is exactly like oem, it may fit better.

Has this unit’s design been shortened so it fits like stock?

Last question: has anyone run this with a Dinan tune?

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the help.
The model currently in production fits with the Dinan bars. The rubbing issues are mainly with the original iteration.
The stacks were shortened. The Karbonius box is much larger than the stock one which is partly why it rubbed, but the current one has no interference between the plenum and the hood.

I won't be one to say do not get the Evolve. However, before spending 2-3k I suggest you read up on the E46 Evolve vs Karbonius box to understand what you're buying.
Also, please remember Evolve is a sponsor here. There is no need to speak ill of them as I have their Valvetronic exhaust and it's great and they are a good company overall, however, be aware that as a sponsor they can have posts deleted/people banned.

And only the Karbonius provides 9whp without a specific tune, back to back.

Thank you so much for the honest reply. I will read up as you suggested. So far Iím very happy with all the Dinan parts on the car and I havenít ventured into looking into products from other brands. This will be a first so I want to ensure I make the correct decision.

I didnít realize sponsors could have people banned. Thatís seems off to me. I thought the point of a forum like this was to encourage open/honest discussion. Honest discussion isnít always derogatory.

To be clear, I'm not aware Evolve has ever done that. They are a reputable company and I would not hesitate to do business with them.

I feel the Karbonius is a better option if you want some more power as well, but that's me. For sure due to size it will have more delicate fitment than a OEM replica that Evolve did.

Transformed sound of car, love it. Small fitment issue at elbow, I have not yet taken time to troubleshoot, think coupling will help. No rubbing noticed yet, but have strip of felt on underside of air box just Incase. My experience is that Karbonius stands by their product and customer satisfaction.

I am starting to think Karbonius built the gap in the airbox so that the motor can torque in its mounts a bit. But I don't know which way it normally torques on acceleration, and I have no evidence to back that up.

I think you would be quite happy with that set up. I'm using both the DINAN strut bars and intake with the latest version of the Karbonius and couldn't be happier with sound and looks. No fitment issues. 👍🏻

Thank you. Your setup looks great by the way.

Forgot to ask, what is the procedure to purchase? Are there dealers? If I opt to purchase from a dealer how can I be sure I get the latest version with no fitment issues?
