Karbonius Intake - Group Buy is open

I finally have the info to open the group buy

-----------------------------------
This will be the only group buy in this forum. I am not a sponsor (as I don't sell anything) so I am allowed to open a single group buy.
To be 'confirmed' in this GB you will have to do a 100€ payment which is non-refundable if you later choose to remove yourself
The GB is limited to 40 people

USD pricing below is directional. You will pay whatever the USD-EUR conversion rate is when you pay the full amount.

Units.....EURO.......USD
1:.............2520.......2923
11-15:.......2142.......2485
16-20:.......2016.......2339

To that you should add $200 for shipping and customs. I paid customs on mine and it was under $100.

----------------------------

After years of hounding Mr Karbonius to build what BMW never built for the S65, here it is!

It all started years ago on the M3F, where Karbonius builds an excellent replica of the E46M CSL Airbox. Someone said they were out of business, then eventually posted their phone number and I recognized it to be from Spain, where I'm from.
I called and spoke to the owner who confirmed they were still around. While talking I asked if he had thought of building one for the S65... one thing led to another and Karbonius ended up buying a E92 for testing!

It has been under development for years but we finally have a unit in the US!

The airbox underwent airflow studies and is larger capacity than the stock one which in theory should gain some power, however, I feel it is worth it regardless.

I hope you like it!

The system is composed of 4 parts:
-CF manifold
-CF elbow
-CF air filter/box cover
-ITG high flow filter

The money shot:

-------------------------------------

Update 5/31/18

Round BMW logo: can be changed for any other logo, but the replacement must be round

Karbonius sticker: the box can be sent without any sticker installed and with an optional M Power sticker like traditional E46 CSL airboxes

Air filter: the full kit ships with the ITG oil filter. The OEM paper filter also works, as do all OEM replacement filters

Official pics from Karbonius:

Here are some pics of the ///M V8 variant

Official info on FB:
https://www.facebook.com/karbonius.f...63890803899547

Kit includes:
- Airbox
- Tube
- AirFilter cover
- ITG high flow airfilter
- Certificate of authenticity
- Tools for installation

It is difficult to improve upon such a well-designed intake system as the one found in the BMW S65, but we did it, and independently verified data confirms our claims:

- Weight:
• BMW Stock intake (airbox + tube + airfilter cover): 6,677 gr
• Karbonius intake (airbox + tube+ airfilter cover): 3,635 gr.

- Power:
• Karbonius S65 Airbox: +9HP* (price 2520 €**)
• Karbonius S65 Airbox + Alpha-N mapping:
+32HP* (price 2399+1073€= 3474 €**)
*This data is approximate and depends on the state of the vehicle

DYNOS

Dyno testing complete.

9whp delta.

As apples to apples as anyone can get, the car stayed strapped to the dyno the whole time. Same dynojet, same OTS tune clearing adaptations before each set of runs, same fuel...

Here are all the runs. The 1st 4 are with the stock setup. The next 6 are with the Karbonius one.
As you can see, stock the power varies between 367 and 372. With Karbonius it varies between 374 and 381

ALL RUNS

MAXIMUM OF EACH

Updated pictures

Karbonius has updated a couple of the mechanized pieces vs the airbox pictures I posted. Everyone on the GB will be getting the these

When does the group buy close? I got a few things going on right now, but may be able to pull the trigger in a few months.

I'm a buyer with an independent relatively controlled (not multiple mods at a time etc.) dyno test results on a stockish car. I'm not a buyer without. Probably going to miss out on the GB on those terms but eh, life

That's why we don't have a dyno yet.

I have a dynojet baseline on my E92 (regular FBO stuff) when the xpipe had cats. After they failed they were removed so now it is a catless xpipe, so it isn't as simple as installing the intake and dynoing. I need a new baseline.

We'll have an apples to apples dynojet comparison before a month from now, so never fear, it's coming!

I expect it'll take us a while to get to 15 people. Likely mid or end of September

I'll be fully committed once I hear a good quality sound clip and see some dyno runs! Looking forward to it.

I'm very interested and have been waiting for this to get going... Anyone have a solid plan for tuning? Is the Karbonius tune the only option aside from custom? (I live in the mid west, nowhere near a reputable tuner) I have stage 2 BPM and pri cat delete, I don't want to go backwards in performance after spending this kind of money. What's everyone's plans??

Thank you in advance,
Jeff
