Navigation Map Update

Have any of you updated your navigation maps? I'd like to update mine which are 2012 vintage. BMW dealer wants $80 for maps and $209 for the activation code. Crazy price in my mind. I don't mind the $80 but the code price is absurd.

Bimmertech wants $125 USD all-in. Any suggestions or experience?

it can be free if you google hard enough. there are a dozen tutorials

Yes thanks, I've discovered that. I'm always a bit leery downloading files from sources that I have no experience with. Having said that, I have done that at other times and have been very satisfied. I will investigate further with extracting activation codes and map downloads.
