Hey dudes. Anyone know what this is? It's mounted in the center of the trunk and wired to the comm box. a part number search says it's a ferrite antenna. I'm curious what it's for... I'm thinking tpms?

Well I have tpms and I don't have a single thing in that area. It is completely empty space.

i'm thinking it is positioned there for a reason. my first thought was a yaw sensor, but the part number saying its a "mount for ferrite antenna" sort of leads me away from that. i'm just trying to figure out if i can relocate it. do you have edc?

Yaw sensor is under the front seat.

EDC and TPMS are above the battery tray.

Nope. Only options are heated seats. No Nav, and only Hifi stereo.

So can you remove it and just have uncomfortable trunk access?

it is very light but i didn't unplug it. thinking of relocating the comm box and audio amp to behind the driver's seat on the floor. weight lower, and centered in the car.

No pictures as of yet (I'm not allowed in the shop anymore do to CORVID 19) but I have a few things in the works for the 2004 M3 SCCA GT2 car:
We are custom designing brackets/caliper holders to allow a 372mm Essex AP Racing Radical 5000 to fit an E46 M3
Building a custom sway bar set up that will allow quick bar changes. Basically just slide a new bar in.
And finally a little bump in power.

Finally done with the final version the wiring harness. Trimmed and wrapped. About to go in.

I imagine thinning an E9X M3 harness is going to be afar more painful.

I'm just jonesing for non-price-gouging track time!
I get track rentals/insurance are expensive and organizers have to try to break even, but with limited participants allowed I'm currently looking at $300-400 event fees before even spending $ on gas One group is doing normal rates (250) but their events are filling up fast...Will have to try to get in on the next one.
