Members running 20 inch wheels

Reason Being i see a lot of You running 20inch bbs's .. How's the ride ? I plan on getting a light weight wheel but i just wanna see if there's any regrets ? Do's or donts? Once again I would like an opinion from someone who has 20's or has had them on there car in the past.
Thanks !

Its all about preference. To some 20s have too much of a rough ride and to others it doesnt bother them one bit.

For me, i dont notice much of a difference between 19s vs 20s in term of ride quality.

Not sure but it shouldnt be if you are keeping the wheel near the same diameter as stock. Thats where buying the right sized tires come into play.

IF, you go with 20's make sure to get something lite weight. For example the beautiful c90's you see above. I would stay again from 20's unless you absolutely do it the right way.

Well the wheels I bought are forgestar wheels they are flow formed. It is a cross between forged and cast wheels.. But they weigh about 25lbs .. That's just about what a Bbs wheel weighs in at if not more depending the size

You run 20s.

Why don't you put on gold plated kidney grills and velour interior while you're at it?

Oh! Yes, you are correct. I'm a jerk. But at least I didn't turn my car into a pimpmobile.

I have always run 20's on my 3 e92M I have had, I have even ran a huge 20x11.5 wheel with a 315 tire. I am currently waiting on my HRE P40's to come in which will also be 20". I get 20" wheels bc I like the way it looks, the car handles great for what I use the car for. If your looking for performance def go with 19 or even better 18. Hit up Lon@HRE here on the forums and ask about the P4X S series wheels they come in at some awesome weights might be just what your looking for.

I actually tend to agree with Radiation Joe.

18" vs. 19" is a huge difference. I can only imagine how bad 20's ride. But then again it's really a factor of the roads in your area. 20's would be intolerable around where I live.

I bought a set of 18" RAC's on Michelin Pilot Super Sport and they are the best riding and handling wheel/tire combo I have ever driven on.

I live in the DC Metro area, and the roads here are horrible, but honestly i felt 0 difference between my stock 19's and my 20's even with a drop. Plus if im out on the road im not to worried about wheel weight and stuff, as long as it looks good while im driving thats all i care about. But if i were going to track the car, of course i would get a set of light weight 18's.

I think it's a subjective questions and everyone has different tolerances. I have 20" LMs for the street and 19" RACs for the track. The m3 with 20" wheels and rd sport springs is more comfy than my wife's stock s4 on 18" stock wheels.

According to my vbox my speedo is off by 3-4mph. Never checked with my stock wheels so can't tell you if it's due to the wheels or not.

+1...roads by me are pretty lousy. I didn't notice any difference in ride quality from my OEM 19s. I agree...for a DD, if 20s are the look you like, then do your thing. For the track, 18s or even a light weight 19 are the way to go.

What's so funny about this whole discussion is how the guys on 20s say they can't tell the difference between 19s and 20s. Maybe they can't tell the difference between a Civic and an M3 either. This brings up the question of why they bought the car in the first place. Perhaps, BMWs marketing group does know what they are doing. As we all know by now, M stands for Marketing.
