Cold tire pressures are irrelevant as it's completely dependent on the outside temperature, and how hard you can push the tires when you drive.
For hot tire pressures you should be between 35-40. That's coming in to the pits with no cool down lap HOT. You're not racing, just guess 10-15 degrees or so off your desired hot temperature for the first session of the day. Your first session should be a calmer warm up anyway. Then dial your tires in from there. |

What you care about is how the tire behaves when you are driving, not when it is sitting in the lot; the temperatures and pressures the tire will experience while driving is a factor of several variables. Cold tire temperature and pressure are just two of those variables. |

i know the difference between cold vs. hot... i just need to know around what psi i should set them at before starting my first session. after that i make the judgements depending on how long they last before overheating and getting slippery

I start at 30 cold, any less and the first lap is sketchy and an increased risk of damaging a wheel or tire if you run off. I shoot for 38 hot with NT01s, I recall the working heat range is around 180°F, they don't work so good over 40psi or 200°F.

Based on advice here, I have always run these nitto's @ 38 hot at the track despite all the locals giving me weird looks and telling me that's far too high.
Last time I was out, I was chatting with a ex race driver and he looked at my tyre wear and recommended I try 34 hot. It was day and night difference. So I actually ended up dropping down to 32 hot and it was far far better in corners. It was also an extremely hot day. After all the years of running 38 hot on these tyres, I just thought I'd share my experience. |

I saw a lot of pressure creep on my E90. I usually start 8psi below my target hot pressure. So I'd start at 28psi and end up around 35-36psi.

Going to have to try for 35-36 next time then. I ran 37/38 this past weekend and it felt great for the most part. Couple of weeks will give it a shot and see if it helps.

For a heavy e92, I'd shoot for 36-40psi hot and use a probe type pyrometer to see how your pressures and alignment is working the tire and adjust accordingly. |
