This was a daily driver for about 7 years, have been impressed with how low maintenance has been relatively speaking. The tires at $2k a change will get you every time though!

175,5xx miles!
2008 E92 M3. Bought it in 2012 with roughly 44,000 miles. Had the accessory pulley end up on the engine bay one winter. It was seized and just appeared. I found out only when I popped the hood after hearing an odd squealing noise. Replaced: 2 throttle actuators spark plugs pre-cat O2 sensors head and crank gaskets Other items are coming up but the check control message came back on at the end of the week since I got it back Monday. "Engine malfunction - reduced power" "Increased emissions." So far the car has been generally reliable despite the quirks. But the cost of fixing the major/minor stuff is still astronomical!! I'm losing confidence in the car and the dealership right now thinking it was fixed properly.

So let me see, for both the 330d & M3 - insurance £1190 (0yrs NCB on the M3), road tax £532 (7mths for the M3), fuel (10k/yr 330d £1376,2k/yr M3 £521=) £1897. So all in, (not including repairs/servicing though) £3619/yr. Just the M3 - insurance ~£1000, 10k/yr fuel £2606, road tax £570, all in £4176. £557/yr more, so yea, quite a bit more expensive (although not quite as much as I thought), & that's not factoring in more wear on much more expensive tyres on the M3, the greater depreciation on it, greater fuel cost in the likely event I go over 10k/yr, or increasing fuel & road tax costs over the coming years. When the M3 eventually falls into the category of 'classic' insurance (in maybe 4yrs??), insurance cost will drop, although it will anyway as I (hopefully!) gain NCB on it in the intervening years. Nice thought though to have an M3 as my DD . go4gr8 Are you sure you meant head gaskets & not cam(head) cover gaskets? |

I am at just over 100k miles with my 08 E90. Bought in 2011 with 30k. Drive year round in weather from -20F to 95F in all weather conditions. I do all the work. No real issues. Changed rod bearings in 2014 at 60k preventatively, and they had wear with copper along edges of uppers but none yet in main wear patches in center of bearings. Also new rotors and pads, new/rebuilt actuators, poly rear subframe and diff bushings as performance upgrade, 1 piece carbon driveshaft as performance upgrade, motor and trans mounts, front upper and lower control arms, rear upper control arms, all fluids, and probably more I have forgotten.

Just purchased a 93,XXX mile Silverstone E92 M3. Rod bearings had been replaced (BE replacements) but the car is still on the original clutch/flywheel. Throttle Actuators are still original as well.
The car is extremely clean and the only issues pointed out on the PPI was some seepage from the diff and replacement of the rear tires (swapping out PSS to PSAS3+). |

Hi Guys, I have a 2012 E92 6MT but its still a high miler sitting at 173,000 Kms (107,000 miles) right now. i got the car with 100,000 kms on the clock.
It is a Daily Driven car and sometimes gets caught in stop start traffic. Only had servicing at regular recommended intervals and an oil change in between services. I haven't had any mechanical issues apart from the usual consumables a car goes through (brake discs and pads, wear sensors, tires, battery, etc) Still riding the original Rod Bearings, Throttle Actuators, Clutch. Things I do otherwise though have been letting the cold start finish before driving and I never take it above 3k revs until I'm at full operating temp and the full redline is available. I'll be honest the Rod Bearing issue does have me slightly worried as being a late model E9x I understand the Blackstone Labs Oil Test wont pick up the new material the late model bearings are coated with (as opposed to the lead that the earlier models had), I know the clearance is the same but the material changed. If anyone knows better and what to actually look for in a late model oil test it would be much appreciated. Will probably end up just doing the rod bearings when my paranoia gets to much and I start having nightmares. Car lives in the Aussie climate if that has got to do with anything as well. |

Fuel transfer pump. Moves fuel from passenger side of tank to driver's side about half full. $200 and labor...cracked housing..
Right rear wheel bearing because the ABS ring in it gave up. ABS warning light....fixed.. (could not get the hub off the axle. Seized. Really seized!. Had to replace the axle and hub along with the bearing). ~$1000 in parts. Throttle Actuator rebuild kit $115 and INDY Buddy install $200 labor....Whew!!
