Are you the original owner?!

Replaced the rotors and pads. Rotors were original. Rears could'a taken fresh pads once more. I'm easy on brakes. Previous pads were replaced at 64K. 200000 miles out of the rotors. Great.

1. Throttle actuators around 120k (forget if I mentioned that before)

3. Fuel pressure vent at 120k
4. Fuel transfer pump at 123k
5. Front brake pads at 125k
6. Currently replacing driveshaft due to a seized CV joint, seized Ujoint, and noisy center bearing at 130k. Can't believe both were seized.
7. Might as well change the trans mounts as well as diff and trans fluid again at 130k while I'm there (2nd time on fluids since I've owned it since 70k)
8. Belts, idler pulleys, power steering pump pulley, and upper radiator hose at 128k.

Probably $3k-$3500 this year on parts alone. Obviously cheaper than a car payment, however, not expecting that for sure. I'm figuring motor mounts and suspension will probably be next on the list. I'm shooting for 200k before I sell it.
Curious about the driveshaft, what part of the states are you located in? Wondering if salt / rust can be an issue?

I had a dealer quote for $6000 to do the clutch/flywheel. Doing it myself, I found all the parts including doing some extra preventative maintenance for less than $1000. The LUK OEM clutch and flywheel were $720 total. Here is the list;

Rock Auto
$257 LUK 03102 Clutch kit (5 parts + tool)
$461 LUK DMF148 Flywheel

FCPEuro (parts guaranteed for life)
2 x $45.39 Engine Mount - Corteco 11812283798

ECS tuning
$20 Clutch pivot pin ES# 3647226

eeuroparts.com and RMEuropean
Other parts including Guibo/flex disk, exhaust nuts, exhaust gaskets, release spring, pressure plate bolts, flex joint nuts, transmission mounts

Hit 100k a couple days ago. Bearings were changed at 36k. All oil changes in between received a clean black stone report. Opting to change them again very soon for good measure since the car was recently out of warranty.

What bearings did you use?

If you do pull them make sure to post up the condition, I've never seen a set of pulled BE bearings.

They were replaced under warranty so OE bmw bearings, I believe.

Uh, no...there are 50 E9x M3s on Autotrader with asking prices of less than $20k, with less than 150k miles. They start about $13k.
The highest asking price M3s are from private owners. They all think they've got best taken care, most desired spec example and there is a buyer who will pay a premium. I understand it. The '08s are cheaper than comparable condition E46 M3s. I can imagine it feels not great that one of the all time great cars is still depreciating.

(Please note "comparable condition", most E46 are beat on bad. From what I can tell the E9x's are more durable and/or better taken care of.)

Post some links

13k for a salvage with 108k shouldn't be used as a pricing benchmark. 18.5 to 20k with an accident history and high miles is what I see.

The contention was that any 'fair' condition car was worth $20k. Feel free to ignore the $13k example with the salvage title, and the other 40 still on Autotrader start at $13.9k.

Obviously $20k doesn't buy a concours level '13 with low miles, but it's ridiculous to think that you can't get a fair condition car for $20k at this point. So many people around here seem to be in denial of the value of these cars and seem to think they're sitting on the proverbial gold mine.

These cars are a great value at $20k. I saw one with rod bearings changed and I think 121k miles asking $21k not long ago.

That might be true, but it doesn't change the market value or make any sense to treat $20k as a fire sale price on a fair condition cars--they start in the low to mid teens these days.

Quote:
I expect the prices to be strong and going up over the next 5 to 10 years.
I guess we'll find out but that doesn't mean you can't buy E9x M3s for $20k all day long right now.
I've been carefully monitoring and haven't seen any indication in the market that the prices on these cars are rising. I wish that wasn't the case

I hope it doesn't so I can buy two different colors and enjoy them by myself while the RoW has no clue about the car.

Eventually in the next year or two, I want a lower mileage e92 for the garage and weekends and will keep the e90 for more routine stuff.
