New Member Introduction

A few of you had asked how I liked the M6. The truth is that I love the car. I’ve owned over 50 new cars and the M6 is definitely my favorite Daily Driver(DD) ever! The combination of comfort, cache’, and raw power makes it unbeatable. I just happen to love change (with my toys), even though I’ve been married for 35 years. My lease is over at the end of October. I’ve owned 2 prior M3’s, 1998, and 2002, and love them both. This will be the first coupe I’ve ever bought as a daily driver. I really want to save the 500 pounds. I figure I can always jump in the 430 if I want to cruise in drop top.

My plan is to add the full compliment of Dinan MODS immediately after break in. I that some of their MODS can be topped by other shops, but the Dinan stuff installed my local dealer makes me feel comfortable. My goal is to get as close to 500hp as possible, along with their 362 LSD rear end. I don’t think she’ll ever be a quick as the M6, but I’m hoping to get close.

I look forward to sharing my review of her both pre and post MODS.

If any of you have had bad results with any of the DINAN MODS, I'd love to hear the details. I’m always interested in everyone opinions, even though I’m not a fan of negative threads, the truth is the truth.

Cheers

Welcome to the board!

Do you plan to add all the mods at once or just do it one at a time to get a feel for the addition of one mod at a time to see how well it improves with each modification. I like the latter, especially if it's a performance mod.

Welcome. Dinan seems to be a hot button topic here. Maybe 'cause they are not sponsors on here, I don't really know why? My experience has been pretty good. I have had 4 M cars and until this one I have never had any Dinan mods. I currently have the stage 1 suspension, intake, exhaust and software flash. Next up, 4.1 diff! Also very intersted to see what there midpipe will be like. So far I am quite happy with Dinan and really like that it is not a hodge podge of 6 different companies. It is obvious Dinan did extensive reasearch to ensure performance without sacrificing driveablity. There is several members who will agree and if you can weed through the BS posts you can get alot of nice info! Good Luck!

welcome aboard in October.
Let us know how you get on with those mods.

The only negative I've read on them is that they may be difficult if they are required to do any repairs caused by the mods. I believe they claim to cover the warrantee but some people have had trouble getting them to honour it but I have no personal experience. I would do a search and see if you can find any previous on the subject.

I also wasn't aware they did enough to get you up to 500bhp? What exactly do you plan to do? Have you considered the supercharger mod? It seems to have good reviews but again I have no personal experience.

I completely agree. The M3 always has, and always will be, more 'tossable' than it's bigger brothers. I think in terms of responsiveness, it is eclipsed only by the E36 M3.

Thanks guys!

I plan on enjoying the car stock until the break-in is over, and then add the mods immediately thereafter. I will be adding everything Dinan has to improve performance, including the 3.62 rear end. I'll also be adding their basic suspension kit which lowers the car 1/2 inch. The only thing I plan to avoid is the throttle bodies. I've heard a fair bit of negative feedback on this option. I also understand that Dinan will have a pulley kit out anytime.

I love a car that kicks ass, so if it performs anything like my M6, I'll be a very happy boy.

Keep your feedback and thoughts coming.

cpiguy, got a question for you. Since you own a 430 and the M3, how would you compare the exhaust note from the M3 to the 430. I know before hand the 430 is the better sounding car, (un-worldly is the adjective that comes to my mind about the 430 engine/exhaust note) but since you have both I'm interested in hearing your thoughts.

M3 will be a DCT and 430 is an F1. Sorry, but I'm done with clutches.

welcome
I would have a dealer installed Dinan products; just a comforting fact. I am sure you can get close to 500 w/ some of these aftermarket mods. Also, have you thought about an aftermarket stroker kit, or a Supercharger? Dinan sells the Stroker kit for a great price. Check the website, I think it lists the pricing.
Well, congrats on your new venture. Hope to hear from your project soon. ANd don't forget the photos.

Unfortunately I don't have the M3 yet, but I will tell you that in my opinion, nothing sounds like a 430, nothing! My M6 sounds great, but there's no comparision.

So if you have questions about your new car first make sure you RTFM and then and only then, start a thread! Otherwise people will tell you to STFU! There, I hope this helps!
