I think they were able to swing COTA by getting a specific race-only session within another group that rented the track so I think that should work out ok.

Interesting - was wondering what happened that they committed to it without getting the amount of interest that they had hoped for before the beginning of the year. Glad that it happened - ought to be a fun weekend.

How often should I be replacing wheel bearings and control arms so that I don't have a fantastic failure on track? Pushing the car relatively hard on NT01 / AR-1, mostly stock power, just exhaust bolt ons.

Let's say average 1-2 track days per month. Replaced front wheel bearings in Feb 2019. Control arms replaced about 2 years ago.

The problem with the eBay ones I've found at least is that they look like they've been taken out of a total cars with damage to the pedal itself. I'll probably end up buying a whole new assembly from Turner/ECS - https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-5...e-pedal-assem/

I'm actually pretty upset on the XR1
I almost lost all braking

I've been involved with racing for 10 years and nothing like this has ever happened
Then to see those stubs when I had 30 plus percent left just put the worst taste in my mouth

I love their product , best pads for my setup
I just came very close to being screwed sadly

With that said, I'll be buying another set lmao

Trailer Towing Tongue Weights

For those that are towing their M3- What kind of tongue weights are you guys running (and what kind of truck). Is everyone defaulting to a WDH?

I've got an F250 with a max tongue weight rating of 600 lbs without a WDH and 1250 lbs with one. Trailer, car and stuff weighs about 6500 lbs. And I've got it balanced so there is 550 lbs on the tongue. Thinking about getting a WDH to bring up the margins.

WDH hitch is a good idea here.

You’ll know you don’t have enough tongue weight when the trailer starts to wag the truck.

For those of you running NASA TT, I've got a couple of quick and semi-embarrassing questions after reading the TT rules book. There really needs to be a "getting started with TT" webpage or something.

-For my first weekend, how does this work with the check ride and TT license? Do I basically need to do the Friday test-and-tune and have the check ride then? Or am I going to be allowed out with the first session (practice) with one of the guys in the right seat?

-I don't understand how gridding works. I get that the first session of the weekend is considered practice and none of those times will count for the event. But does my fastest time in that first practice session determine where I grid up for the rest of the weekend?

-I also don't understand how impound and/or the end of a session works. The way the rule book reads, it seems like the end of a session means everyone goes to "impound" and you can't do anything to the car. You have to either sit in the car and wait, or stand beside it and keep the hood closed. You're then released back to the pits? This whole section of the rules was very confusing.

-What is a TT log book? What am I writing in it? Is this something I have to hand in or keep in the car at all times as proof of something?

-My car looks to be borderline for TT3. When I use the online calculator, and ballpark it with what I know the manufacturer curb weight is plus my own, plus the fact I have tires with UTQG of over 100, it looks like I can just barely squeeze into TT3. I'm still not sure that I'm doing this correctly, however. If I have to run TT2, I'm going to be at the far end of it and will get absolutely crushed.

-Where do I register my transponder? I've already set it up on the MyLaps app.

-For a car with a severely raked hood and front bumper, where do you put the number and class decals? If I put them on the hood it feels like, they're almost unreadable.

Reach out to Chase Johnston on FB to arrange your check ride. It's best if you can knock it out Friday, but I suspect they'd let you run in TT warm up session based on your experience.

Gridding on the warm up session is on the honor system. I usually grid up 5th to 10th depending on who's there. The idea is to let the faster guys grid before you.

That time however will be used to set your grid position for the first timed session so yo want to get a clean lap in the warm up session with decent tires. After that, your fastest time of any session sets your time for grid all weekend. Most people will set their fastest time of the weekend in 1st or 2nd timed session of the weekend. Grid is for the most part established without too much change after 3rd session. Some regions like NOLA make you use the previous session to set grid for the following session, so if you miss a session you may start at back. Texas uses whatever time in any session is your fastest.

Impound is basically a National thing. For Texas, there will be someone at the track exit that will tell you whether or not you have to go to the scales (aka impound). If you are selected, you will get weighed and tires will be measured/checked if you're traking any type of tire modifier.

TT log book costs you $20. You buy it a tech and it allows you to do tech once for the entire year versus having to do it each event. Only thing that is written in mine is the tech inspector's signature. It's good for any region. Bring $20 to tech and get a log book and annual inspection sticker. I keep it in the truck but try to use it when I do HPDE's to avoid going to a tech shop.

You should always run in the highest class that you can. Have you posted your class forms and dyno sheets to the online compliance database? I can look at and offer you advice. You will want to get to running Hoosiers eventually, so plan on detuning or add weight to make it work for TT3.

You need to enter your transponder# in your NASAPRORACING.COM profile. Look at entry list for TT/Racing and you will see a column for TX #'s. You can also do it when you register, but its better to do it now.

Don't worry if front numbers are not readable. Every corvette faces same issue as you. Main thing is the sides and the rear.

Hope that helps. You can e-mail me at Denis dot Clavette at Comcast dot net with any questions.

in that picture i posted, there were no studs holding the pad on the backing plate. when they got this low, there was some significant vibration through the pedal. i'm not sure what from, but the pads communicated to me and they were all pretty thin. no chunking at all. i did cook my fluid though.
