270M winter wheel setup. Anyone have experience?

I got an amazing deal on some used 270M winter wheels and tires. I paid about $750-$800 for the set (can't remember exactly how much) shipped to my door. I put them on Friday evening, and I was wondering if anyone has ran these wheels in the winter, and if so, what were your impressions on them?

They don't quite fill the fender without spacers, so I was wondering what people use for wheel spacers, if any with these wheels on an E90 M3 or if running spacers in the winter was even a bright idea? Right now I have nothing on the front, and 12.5mm on the back, and the rear seems as though it could stand to come out a little bit further. I know it's function over form in the winter, but should I maybe use my 15mm spacers in the rear and nothing in the front? The front really isn't too bad without spacers, but the rear tucks way in without them and even with the 12.5mm spacers I think it could stand to come out more.

No pics yet, but perhaps soon? All in all I am pleased so far with the wheels. They are a good bit narrower than the 19" ZCP wheels, and it shows in the handling, especially at 100mph+, but they are a look I can live with for the winter.

Sure. Most performance snows are rated to at least 118 mph sustained, and some are rated to 130 mph or higher. Even non performance snows are still likely to be rated to 99 mph sustained.

I use 12mm on the front and 15mm on the rear with mine. They still don't have the stance of the summer wheels due to their offset, etc, but it helps. You can see mine on RAB if you want an idea how it looks. Near the HQ building.

And my tires are good to 220kmh.

Yep, I use 270M with Michelin PA3 with 12mm spacer on the rear, nothing on the front which leaves about 2mm further in under fender compared to my Summer ZCP. Rear with the spacer leaves around 8mm compared to ZCP. We do get snow=dirt here so I prefer to keep the Winter wheels covered by the fender to avoid too much spray.
Super happy with the rims, looks good enough to even be a nice change to the ZCP.

100mph on winters is not crazy. In the snow yes on dry pavement no issues at all. I am running my m220 w/ Micheline PA4's (245/255) and they are the best winters I have had my non x5 cars.

I just got my set as well and on the e90, there is sooooooo much space between the fenders. I hate it LOLA but the wheels look nice on it.

Bringing my tires flush with my fenders results in lots of crap getting thrown up on the side of my car... I wouldn't do this with a dedicated winter set up personally if I planned to drive in actual snow.

Your car would get dirty if you drove in the snow period. I have an 08 535 with smaller and narrower wheels and skinny snows and my 08M3 has stock 18 inch wheels with 255/235 snows. Both cars get dirty.

Oh yes, big time, but at least less fender paint spray if the wheels are kept reasonable in there.

That's why I went with the spacers I did. They come out a bit, but not to the edge. I get a bit dirty, but nowhere near what I would with say 18mm rear and 15mm front.

Good point on the wheels flinging dirt and snow all over the car if they are too close to the fender line. But honestly, like was stated before, if you drive in the snow, you're going to get snow and dirt all over your car anyways. I just try and wash the car once every two weeks at the absolute maximum to get any road salt off, or other dirt/whatever.

Wash mine every weekend. Not the issue mate, the light paint damage from the dirt spray is..

Cheers

That's basically the exact setup I am running. I really need to get some good pics with these wheels on. Looks almost identical to yours as far as wheel gap is concerned.

Thanks, I will try and swing by someday this week to take a look and see the difference with 15mm spacers in the back.

This. Our county also drops volcanic cinder to aid with traction. The last thing I want is for the little bastards to chip up my paint from my wheels being to flush with the fender.
