From Syosset, more than 100 cars speed through upstate NY

"More than 100 high-end driving machines including Porsches, Ferraris, Lamborghinis and BMWs eating up the 117 miles of road on from Syosset to the Monticello Motor Club Sunday were pulled over by State Troopers.

The mass stop happened about 11:30 a.m., said Sgt. Raymond Walter of the State Police in Liberty, after numerous 911 calls were made to Sullivan County dispatchers about vehicles racing west on Route 17.

Walter said the stop was made about 10 miles from the Motor Club, a resort located at the foot of Catskill Mountains, that's home to a 4.1-mile private track.

About 30 tickets for various infractions were issued, Walter said, including six for speeding at 100 mph.

"I guess they thought the race started earlier on Route 17," Walter said.

Seth Rose, founder of Exotics Rally in Hicksville, said about 220 people taking part in the Turkey Run for Charity spent $100 to cover the day's expenses and raise cash for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Exotics Rally has been organizing group drives since 2007, and Rose said participants are told to follow the law.

Rose said he was unaware of any speeding tickets being issued, but anybody found to have broken the law would be ejected from the group.

"It really didn't put a damper on the day," said Rose, who organizes rally events full-time.

"We were able to raise a lot of money."

Haha, I was there. Editing my hundreds of pics and video. Here was all of us stopped by the troopers. Typical media...maybe only 5 people got tickets, not 30.

if i were a cop, i'd be like "look dude, you were speeding and driving like an idiot. So here's the deal: come to my house next Sunday morning, give me a 2-hr ride in your (fill the blank) Carrera GT / Lambo / Viper, and we'll forget about that ticket"

Strange, the way I posted the link you should be able to view it like any public URL. Perhaps it's blocked at your location (i.e.: work)? It's not an exciting pic. Just me pulled over with a bunch of other cars on the shoulder. F430 on the left, black turbo Porsche on the right.

Yeah work blocks it but I saw it on iphone. I was also told to pull over in front of these cars by the female trooper but simply rolled slowly away. There was just way too many of us for them to chase me down. It was total chaos and confusion.
