DCT: getting into D1 after reversing?

I find it annoying that sometimes after I reverse my car and I need to quickly get back into drive mode, but the car will get into Manual 1 instead of Drive 1.
Do those who have DCT have this issue? Is the car suppose to be programmed to go into Manual 1 or Drive 1 on first toggle to the right?

Mine goes to either D3 or S3. Mostly S3. It's seems to be random. I'm not sure what it's programmed to do.

if u guys reverse completely and change gear, it goes to S.
if u guys change gear while it's still reversing, it goes to D.

For me, what's annoying is the lag time. Shifting from R, it takes a solid 3 or 4 seconds to engage any other gear

There might be a problem with yours or something. Mine takes less than 2 secs.

How recent is your software version? I had mine updated last week (side effect of alarm coding) and it's much faster now. It was like an eternity before (that was with last last December's version), but it's much faster.

I have noticed that if i have been driving it around in D then reverse, when i put it back it will go into D. Like wise if i was in S, or if i have not been driving it around in D very long.

Mine just goes back to whatever I had it in prior to me putting it in reverse; if S then back to S, if D then back to D. Mine is an '09 and I do not have the latest software.

You say "back into" above, so am I correct in interpreting that this means you are backing up after already having driven the car in D mode for some time?

In any case, the fact that you mention "sometimes" makes me think that you are experiencing a similar (though, slightly different, from your description) buggy behavior that myself and a few others are.

Neither, actually. On the first right click of the lever after the engine is started, it should go to S3. On the second click it should go to D mode, and be in whichever drivelogic setting you had last used for that mode. So if you were last in Drivelogic setting 1 for D mode (D1), then it will go to D1, yes. But if you were last in Drivelogic setting 4 for D mode for example, then it would go to D4.

That's a bug and its not quite random (although I've since found that it is not quite as cut and dry as outie has described):

That's what mine does, but on the first start of the day after backing out of the garage it goes into Manual first. Which I suppose is alright because then I'll drive her harder on the back roads

Unless I'm misinterpreting what you are saying, mine doesn't do this. On the first right click after starting mine goes to S3. On the second click it goes to the last D setting I used.

You're right. I wrote it backwards. I will fix my post. Thanks.

Yes, first click should be S3. 2nd click is Dx where x=last D mode being used.
