Buying an E92 M3s @ 16-18? Hahah, good for them I guess.
How about a 911 AND a 335i @ 21? One of which I got for $0. The 335i which I got CPO'd and am paying for in the next 3 years. The 997 C2S I got from my late grandfather. |

+1 on that one. If you were banking that much at 17 to 19 then you might have something to teach me. I started college when I was 16. I didn't start making good money until I was 22. I got very lucky in 4 short years (26 now).
Although I do know a 5 year-old who has 2 dodge vipers. Parents put the title in the kids names! lol Some tax loop, don't ask me, but I remember a post a while ago they scanned the pink slip for all to see. Youngest Dodge Viper owners.

Guys, the 16-25 category is much too broad. There's a huge difference between getting one between 16-18, 18-22, and 22-25.
First category you're probably in HS, or rich dropout, or early to college. Usually not a lot of disposable income. Second one, in college, one can have a decent qualified job and choose to spend money on an M3. Some more disposable income. Third category 22-25. Good job out of college and chooses to spend money on the M3. Disposable income? Yes. This category is almost like the over 25, other than the cost of insurance. BTW, got my M3 @ 22, but I don't consider myself anywhere near the group of 16 or 18yo got-the-m3-as-my-first-car. Nothing wrong with their money or their preferences, hopefully their driving decisions are just as sound. Enough OT rant.

I have seen a black e90 m3 and another black e92 m3 both being driven by ASIAN GIRLS 18~24 going to UCI. (I am sorry about the prejudice, but everyone knows those M3's are goners). Actually, I think I have seen am Asian chick drive the only M5 @ UCI as well. It's amazing how horrible a sample this forum is of the typical BMW owner. Not saying that Asian girls are the majority of M3 owners, but you guys know what I mean. I guess a White male in his 30's-50's is the typical owner. |

I am absolutely amazed by the age distribution (even though it is a not an accurate sample)! I guess my only excuse from not buying an M3 when I was twenty is because they did not exist at that time .

Having an m3 and living at home with your parents just doesn't seem right to me. That applies to all age groups, but you know who I'm aiming at here...

Well i'm 21, closed on my first house on nov 18. I've been wanting an e9x m3 since I started seeing the spy pics back in 07. Since then I've been obsessed and can't wait to buy one. An oppurtunity arose for this condo and I couldn't say no.1200 sq ft, 25th floor on ftl beach. What would you do? Not living w parents and still driving a BMW sure beats living w your parents and having an m3. Now that I'm settled in and have all my furniture, my next move is the car.
Buying your OWN car and not your parents doing it for you builds character and makes you appreciate the toys in life. I'd feel guilty seeing my dad spend his hard earned money for his jackass 21 yr old to cruise around in an m3, especially when most people don't have 2 pennies to rub together anymore. Props to those of you who did it alone, I commend you and certainly can't wait to join the club. And to those of you who started w an m3 as a first car, well, you better hope your next car is better then an m3, because you'll be pretty disappointed when in 10 yrs you drive a prius(great car) and you think back and say," yes I was 16, drove to high school in an m3, popped bottles at 19, spent all my money on exhaust, and now I'm 26 and couldn't afford it on my own if I tried." oh well. Just my .02, interesting thread tho. Good day
