Hey guys, so lucky a few days back I decided to go in and get a new front driver side tire. The shop took off my old tire and said the inside was wearing dramatically down to the mesh, one more day of driving and it would have popped.. I asked them if that was because of an alignment issue or maybe a balance issue.. but they couldn't decide what it was. I need to take it to a alignment shop and ask them or maybe someone on this thread can tell me..

I dont notice my car pulling in any direction, even when i had my old tire on..

It is most likely alignment issues. It happened to me before, alignment took care of the inner tire wear

Looks more than an alignment issue, maybe something bent? although its hard to tell from that photo alone.

Well thankfully I have all 4 tires which are over 75% now but I'm definitely gonna get it checked up by an alignment specialist. I thought it was just a balancing issue.. shhieettt

Definitely not balance. Alignment may or may not be okay depending how uneven the wear is.. It's hard to see the entire tire. You may just need to corner harder so they wear more evenly!

Accelerated wear can be caused by either a camber or toe issue so I would get t checked as others have said.

That tire is definitely well past done for but corded tires don't mean they are going to blow out immediately. I've gone down to the metal before but wouldn't recommend either.

Check your alignment. Most likely your front TOE is what is doing the damage. For a street car, you want it set at ZERO, not just close to it.

Thanks for all the replies fellas! Im gonna go get my alignment checked tomorrow, hopefully they dont charge me as much for just a toe adjustment.. smh..

I had similar wear on my tires, and was told that running my tires under-inflated could have been a contributing factor. My tires were at 30lbs when the door sticker recommends 35lbs for the rear tires.

Oh, and for an alignment, I'd recommend Stokes in Santa Monica. Honestly they are not cheap, but there is a coupon for $20 off on their website to help with the pain, and they really seem to know their business.

Yes, but if we're talking a stock suspension, it's toe. You can't get enough negative camber up front in stock configuration to have that much cord showing on just the inner edge. That's silly camber numbers type wear in the pic.

I'll have to take a pic of mine, in the rear the cords are showing on the inner edge, I think I went with -1.8 with 1/8 toe in. I have KW clubsport lowered 1" all the around. Fronts were on cords too, about -2.4 camber with 1/8 toe out if memory is correct.

Hmmm Im a little confused on a camber numbers since I'm running stock EDC suspension.But I will definitely ask the mechanic about making my front toes 0.

Most stock BMW do this to inner side of tires from stock toe settings. Stock rear m3 camber is around 2.5 and note enough to make a tire look like that.

With a rear wheel drive car the front wheels tend to toe out when accelerating (its why the OEM alignment is to slightly toe in). If the front tyres are aligned to be already toeing out, this will cause increased wear on the inside shoulder.
Are you are only getting this cording effect with one tyre?

So far yes, only the front driver side tire. So do I tell my alignment specialist to make the front toes at 0?? I dont think anything is wrong with the rear because the tires are wearing evenly and slowly..

Front toe at 0 should be OK, thats still within OEM spec.
A copy of the alignment numbers before the shop makes any changes might be useful.
Plus have the shop check the suspension on the side with the badly worn tyre for any bent or loose parts.

Is this something you have to accept when you lower your car? I had this problem on my e46 M3 with eibach springs and an alignment. I am now having the same problem on my e92 M3 dropped on eibach springs and an alignment from MRF. Is an alignment not enough after you lower with springs?

No no my car isn't lowered, everything is completely stock.
