Proper oil for BE bearings?

Doing the rod bearing swap to BE bearings and BE-ARP bolts. I have read at least 100 pages in the forum on this and I have seen oil choice mentioned once. Bimmerworld suggests going with Redline 15-50 because of cold pour rates. Any thoughts on Redline 15-50 vs BMW 10-60 for street driving once bearing clearance has increased? (Redline is actually a few bucks more a quart though price is irrelevant to me.)

Thanks,

Joe

BE Recommends 10W60.

Flow rates and oil pressure was tested and logged. Which is more than we can say for 5w50. I haven't seen any real data on 5w50 other than anecdotal crap from a guy out of Michigan.

I think the RL 5w50 is heavier than common 10w60s, and it's a race oil, not street so additives may not last for longer intervals.

Castrol supercar 10w60 is a good choice because it has the lowest cold pour, and it shears down quickly to more like a heavy 40 weight. Really good film strength, add pack, tbn for street use, good length of change interval (tbn).

My suggestion would be Motul xpower 10w60. Motul is of the highest quality, quality base stocks, high film strenth, API SN rated like castrol. Good for track or street. It's very similar to Castrol, but no supercar ///m tax added ($50 for 5l on amazon versus almost double for castrol).

You'll get 100 different answers on this topic, and most are uneducated. Lucky for some, the S65 has a variable displacement oil pump and can compensate some if the owner installs thinner oils.

BE recommends 10w60- close thread.

I new I would catch crap for opening an oil thread. Glad to hear BE recommendation. BE website seems to be down so this is helpful information.
