Should you buy a cheap E92 M3? High Mileage vs Low Mileage Road Test
Some of you may know that we've had a project running the last year or so with an E92 M3 with 152,000 miles on. Going through the car and finding what is wrong with it and how much it costs to make it drive 'as it should'.
Well the project has come to an end, and it's time to put it up against our beloved Japan Red car with 70k miles and modifications on, to find out the answer to an age old question - Is it worth buying a cheap performance car? |

Great recap! I’ve watched them all as they came out because I’m in the ‘buy cheap’ camp, and was curious to see if you came to the same conclusion I did. You did.
My circumstances were I wanted 8 cylinders, 4 doors (kid), three pedals, and also something I could wrench on in the weekends for under 20k. In America that’s a tight market. (Those prices you flashed on the screen for non base 70k miles cannot be found in the U.S. by a long shot). 27k, all in with all major refreshes except rod bearings (I know I know) would never get me what I have now. Now sitting at 165k and I’ll never get tired of that glorious V8 on my morning commute. As a weekend/equity pile in my garage, agreed buy the better car. If you wanna actually enjoy it and get driving utility every single day, buy cheap. Edit: Got me thinking, what’s your take on a great daily? With all the great cars you come across, which would make the best in your opinion? |
