S65 M3 engine with cylinder scratch

Hi,
One of my S65 engines has scratches in the cylinderwall after injection failure.
Good M3 racing people: What is the recommended approach?
1) sleeving the cylinder with the problem
2) sleeving all cylinders
3) new (used) cylinder block
Hope you can help.

Unfortunately the best option is a used block.

4) Bore and hone. I've seen much worse and most of them easily clean up.

Never sleeve the S65 block.

How many miles were on these injectors and what type of fuel? Did they see much ethanol?

Was this a stuck open or stuck closed situation? Any other engine damage besides cylinder scoring?

Stuck open, as far as I remember and no other engine damage detected, so far

Did not think you could bore an alusil block?

You can. You just need to get it done by someone who works with Ausil as there is a proper process to follow.

Carbahn offers a 4.2L rebuild. Perhaps they can help bore the block.

At the end of the day, the S65 is not a cheap engine to rebuild. Likely cheapest option is to find a used one and swap.

BMW offers oversized pistons. That should tell you that the S65 can be bored and honed, but you must have the right equipment.

Our shop has built stroker S65 and S85's since 2008 only using boring/honing. We don't have the equipment ourselves, but we know who does. These days, we use Carbahn (formerly Dinan) to bore and hone the blocks for us.

Okay, thanks - but I live in Denmark, Europe. Any partners on this side of the 'pond'?

What are you looking for? A fully rebuild engine? Or just bore and hone and you will do the rest?

I have no leads for you over there. However, in general, anybody who can bore/hone Porsche Alusil blocks can do the same for BMW. You might need to pay them to make a torque plate though, usually about $250 USD.

Depends on price, its an extra so not super urgent. Have a racing engine in the car now, which is pretty lively.
Would like a 4,2 treatment

Depends on price, will be my first time inside the 'core' so will take time for me, would prefer full rebuild.
