▀▄ eas | 2012 Melbourne Red M3: Bolt-On Build & Dyno
There is a popular trio of bolt-on modifications that helps to squeeze out every bit of power from the M3's S65 V8. They are: a full exhaust system, performance underdrive pulleys and a performance intake.
This Melbourne Red E92 had this very trio installed at our facility. With the Akrapovic Evolution titanium exhaust system already installed from the previous week, the first modification we installed during this visit was the Macht Schnell Performance Underdrive Pulley set. These work by reducing the power needed to turn the accessories, resulting in a net power gain. Next on the list was the Macht Schnell Stage 2 Intake Charge Kit, which features a larger air filter, a larger intake pipe and a pair of intake scoops. More air flow = more power. With this trio of bolt-ons installed this M3 gained 45hp and 25ft/lbs at the wheels! That's a healthy 13% gain, which is definitely detectable by the average butt dyno. To match the new found performance of the motor, the exterior received some upgrades as well. Lowered on a set of B&G lowering springs and spaced-out with a set of Macht Schnell Spacers (15mm front, 12mm rear), this E92 now features an aggressive, planted stance. Garnishing the trunk is BMW's beautiful Performance Carbon Fiber Rear Spoiler, which matches the Akrapovic carbon fiber exhaust tips nicely. Next on the list is an ECU tune, which will easily bump this M3 into the 400+whp zone. Looking for something similar to your M3? Give us a call! Enjoy!

i love these threads and breakdowns, thanks for sharing.
i do have a few questions; 1. does the full Akrapovic Evolution titanium exhaust system delete or replace any catalytic converters and/or trip any check engine lights? (basically, is it cali smog legal) 2. does bmw put up a fight with warranty claims with under drive pulleys? |

2. While BMW can theoretically challenge any aftermarket part vs warranty, I have not heard or seen any issues vs warranty denial being contributed to pulleys to date on the S65. Most times, the dealer doesn't even notice them. Here's a detailed thread about the MS UDPs: Bang for the Buck Mods: Macht Schnell UDPs & Dyno Findings http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=649151 And another showing the Macht Schnell intake only, as well as with UDPs and the Akrapovic systems on 2 M3s: Macht Schnell UDP/Stage 2 Intake & Akrapovic Dyno Findings http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=567651 Hope this helps!

What would be great is a run with just a brand new MS filter and then install the stage two scoops and see what the difference is.
If you just do the slip on does that trigger any CELs? |

No CEL from just the Akrapovic SlipOn.
