jsyang15 MINI Exhaust Shootout w/ DYNO Graphs

I have had plenty of threads regarding cosmetic, suspension and wheel(s) change updates... decided to showcase my numerous performance parts to see what the deal was all about and to see where my car stands in it's current state. It currently hit 6K miles and had 1 service done by the dealership.

Evolution of Power Mods:

RUN 2: Stock Car Dyno
RUN 9: Macht Schnell Stage II Intake (scoops + intake elbow + filter) & Macht Schnell Underdrive Pulley
RUN 16: Macht Schnell Stage II Intake (scoops + intake elbow + filter) & Macht Schnell Underdrive Pulley & Akrapovic Evolution Exhaust
RUN 23: Macht Schnell Stage II Intake (scoops + intake elbow + filter) & Macht Schnell Underdrive Pulley & Challenge Street X Pipe & MXP Axle Back Exhaust
RUN 31: Macht Schnell Stage II Intake (scoops + intake elbow + filter) & Macht Schnell Underdrive Pulley & Mastermind X Pipe w/ Resonators & MXP Axle Back Exhaust

*** Disclaimer ***

These are my personal numbers that I did off the same DYNO @ EAS. It is on their Dynojet 224LC and I used the same dyno over and over to get consistent data for my own records. In the end, DYNO is all about personal tuning so I tried to eliminate any major variables by not switching to another DYNO. So there is really no point in calling me out and asking about settings, weather and such since I did it all on standard and weather isn't something I can control. I did this mainly for my own data but I thought it would be fun to share with my m3post family so you can come to a 3rd party opinion on some of the performance modifications on the market

UPDATE: 2.23.12

New Dyno Numbers: Macht Schnell Stage II Intake, Scoops, Pulleys, Drop in Filter, Mastermind X Pipe (cat delete w/ 2 secondary resontaors), Vorsteiner Titanium Exhaust

Are you planning on any software? I wonder how a "Akra" specific tune would perform?

Definitely the Akra was the peak HP winner but I don't mind a minor loss of HP for my torque gain. A trade off but the Akra still wins with the lightweight construction and well balanced numbers of HP and TQ gains with the MS stage II + UDP on my personal car. But the MXP + mastermind wins in the sound and TQ category

Thanks for showing all these results and remaining candid with us all.

I think overall, I too would much prefer the low-end torque gains of the Mastermind XPipe in comparison to the Akrapovic Evolution. They must have done something right with the design of their XPipe to yield those gains.

It would be awesome if there was a titanium Mastermind XPipe attached with an Akrapovic Slipon...

Again, thanks for sharing all these results. This will definitely be beneficial to us who are still in the hunt for the "perfect" parts for our builds.

so basically the Challenge Xpipe and MXP axle back made NO power....then Mastermind and MXP did pretty well....

sounds like the Challenge Xpipe from THESE tests, didn't do squat for power or torque. Interesting.

All the power is made by removing the primaries in these cars.

Akra is a bit too tamed for me. It's appeal is the construction and lightweight. But in sound category, this is a bit subjective category but the mastermind x mxp takes that category by a landslide

In all fairness I was using the challenge street pipe. This basically utilizes your factory primary cats and only removes secondary. In other words, a factory x pipe with modifications mainly for sound. I'm sure if i ran their race or race + it would of been a completely different story...

couldn't agree with you any more then that... The boys at Mastermind did right with these pipes... you should test my Mastermind RACE pipe. i know there's more power in there without the resonators. Problem is the SLIGHT smell and it's extremely loud haha.

Mastermind and MXP sound very similar. Are they two different companies with two different products? For example is the Mastermind X Pipe different than MXP Xpipe (but shares the same acronym)?
Are you DCT or 6MT?

Mastermind is a company that is making the x pipes. MXP is from Mackin Extreme Products such as Mackin Industies (distributor of Rays Engineering Wheel, Project Kics) and it is their muffler. I am DCT transmission

nice numbers JS!

solid as hell with the mods

just out of curiosity, how much time did it take your dct tranny to adjust to dyno readiness mode?

It usually adapts after 2-3 runs, also cool downs in between

UPDATE:

I recently installed thew new Vorsteiner Titanium Exhaust and mated it with the Mastermind X pipe

Did a few dyno runs on it to test for HP gains or losses...

Here is one sound clip with a freshly installed Vorsteiner Titanium Exhaust c/o the crew @ EAS
