Matte black rear M3 badge

Anyone know where to buy a matte black rear M3 badge? I want the one that stil has the tri-color stripes and is the right size (not the E46 M3 larger size). I did find it at BPS (link) but no way I am paying $60 for a plastic badge... Thanks!

I tried that and they sent me the size for the E46 (much larger). Wouldn't have looked good at all. As well, I did mention the part was for the E92 and they sent the wrong one anyway.

Yes, $49 (link). That page claims the parts are from Autotecknic but their price is $52 (link).

I just can't swallow these prices for a tiny little plastic emblem. Cost is probably $1 maximum. I'd pay $25. Guess I'll have to wait, buy it used or make it myself. I'll probably go with the latter.

What about having the OEM one painted? It may require a new tri-color sticker but it will probably be cheaper.

I think you have to paint it. That's what I did to mine when I realized no company will make one exactly the same size because of trademark infringement and the fear of being sued by BMW. You also will have trouble finding a sticker with the BMW colors for the same reason. Due to this I had to paint mine black and then paint the tri-color flag back on.

The one i got from mod bargins was exactly the same size in matte black with the colored tri stripes. It was $50 though and yes it is plastic just like the chrome one that comes stock on your car. I used dental floss to cut the original one off from a tip i learned on this site. You might want to wear gloves when you use the floss to cut the badge off though.

I got mine matte black badges for the e9X M3 from renn spec and the quality is certainly comparable to OEM badges, I took pictures of the back of the emblem to show the 3M double sided tape that came pre-attached just to show that is pre-cut and how thin it is, so these emblems don’t stick too much out other than what it’s supposed to! these are definitely not the same double sided tape that you find at your local ACE hardware store!

Mike, you should post a close up pic of the front side - yours look similar to the ones I bought. I won't mention the vendor I got mine from (although I'm sure the manufacturer is the same for all of them) but the ones I got were terrible. The part of the M where the sticker goes is actually much more recessed than the OEM ones, and the sticker wasn't cut straight and didn't fill that area, so you could see gobs of glue sticking out from behind the sticker. I've returned it and am waiting for a refund. $50 for this? Don't think so.

I'm thinking about getting either the shadowline chrome version of the OEM ones, or taking my OEM one off and painting it, and then buying the shadow-colored overlay stickers from one of the vendors.

Your looks like it might be better, but I'm still not sure I could live with it. Guess I'm too much of a perfectionist

swamp, I wouldn't paint the OEM badge. I've seen people try and do it before and the paint always peels off. You'll be waiting a long time before prices drop significantly, so you might as well bite your lip and pay $50. On my car:
