Vishnu modified 335i vs M3 V8 + my driving M3 impression
I just want to tell you one thing if you drive a M3 V8. Think twice before you race Vishnu 335i I say no more, watch out for upcoming videos from the latest M5board.com event.
Oh yeah, I drove the new M3 as well. Yesterday I drove the new M3. So what if C63 is faster. Doesnt make the M3 a slow car, in fact it's more than 95% of the population can handle. The car is so well balanced and easy to control, even my old grandmother can drive fast with the new M3. I broke the speedlimit several times yesterday, 180km/h in third gear and if the police gets you, your license is gone. There is tons of grip and you can take a bend faster than you thought what was possible. You can drive superfast without anything goes wrong, the car so wellbalanced and it's so easy to control. The new M3 is orgasmic. I'm not worried if C63 beats you becuase there will always be someone faster than you. Heck, if I was worried to get beaten, well, a tuned Toyota Supra can cure that. For me driving is more than just a straightline, its the total package that matters. M3 offer good comfort and is just as easy to live with as a 335i, in fact the suspension is better than a 335i thanks to the adjustable suspension. For the price of the M3 its hard to find another car that do so much great as the M3 does for you. No longer can you use the excuse that the M3 is to harsh for you to live with. Top on that you mix the M3 with a dose of acceleration, tons of grip and tons of driving pleasure. And let's not forget, the M3 is beautiful car to look at too. It's really that good! So, M3 or a C63? which is the best? None I would say, they are both good. Highreeving concept or big block concept? it comes down to details which one you choose and you cant go wrong with neither of them. Oh, with the new DCT gearbox the M3 will get even better, Im sure of it. |

It is not a "flame" rising 335 vs M3 thread. It is an interesting report from someone who could do a proper comparison.
I think is starts to be clear that the M3 is fast and comfortable and really good when curves come into the equation. But if somebody is a fan of drag racing, better to go for the cheap option (tuned 335ì) or the expensive one (c63 amg). Just my two cents....a big thanks to the Swedish guys who arranged the comparison on the airstrip.!

Ok its starting all over the Web wheres the C-6 or z-06
I own a stage 1 or Procede E93 Convertable and an 08 C-6 Corvette Npp
Z-51, etc. that cost less than the E92 and has 436HP weighing 3200 lbs and someone was over at the Corvette board saying the 335 has the same potential as a C-6 Corvette, Now having driven the M-3 at the ring experience and driving the autobahn regularly, I have my wifes 335 to drive often. Its a neat car but its no match on a Road Course for the C-6 or an M-3 for that matter. If going fast straight is your bag, great lets build up a 135 and get it tuned to go fast straight ! It takes a driver to go fast on a road course, and a car to handle it Lets put a Turbo or Supercharger on a c-6 or a m-3 and see what happens

I think it's understandable for a tuned 335i to out perform an E92 M3 in acceleration, especially from a rolling start or above 100mph. The chat is these 335i are kicking out as much as 440hp and as much in torque so why is this news to some people.
Up until the new M3 came out I would have regarded the 335i the best 3 series to own, it ticks all of the boxes, low end pulling power, top end zing, comfort and economical plus decent handling even without a diff. But after sampling the new M3 I was amazed at how practical an M car could be and with this V8 under the bonnet we have a car that not only pulls from low revs in a way the old car could only dream of but is even better at higher revs, it's handling is just as capable as before but with even more traction which is mind boggling when you consider there's an extra 70 horses. Factor in the electronic dampers and the M-diff and you have a much more capable car than a 335i regardless of how much tuning is done to the engine. |

Yes and no
As one who not only participates vigorously in the tuned 335i vs. stock M3 debate but one who tires of the level of emphasis placed by some in one part of the performance equation, I welcome these discussions and debates. Further I sympathize with sajakh whose thread was closed seemingly without reason. +1 on the your comments herein sajakh!
I think it is cool that a modded 335i can finally and definitively produce more tq and hp and outrun an M3 in a straight line. Is it apples to apples, no; is it fair in way stock to stock is, no; does drag time make the car, no; is it still darn impressive; YES. I would like to know the exact mod list, parts prices, labor hours and dyno results for the modded 335i. Can't wait to see all the videos as well. |

A 335i with just Version 2 of Procede piggyback dynos at 360 WHP on 93 octane gas (which equates to about 410 HP at the crank) and about 400 WTq (450 lbs at the crank). This costs $1500 shipped and 90% of folks can install it themselves in a couple of hours.
The M3 is certainly the more complete performance package, but at its $40-50K price point the 335i is for sure the all-around performance coupe/4-door champ.
