Jerez?!?!
ok, I have about 3 days to finalize my color decision. My order was placed last Saturday, but can still be changed within the next few days. I ordered Jerez w/ Bamboo. Now Im thinking maybe Melbourne red w/ Bamboo. I saw a Melbourne red one today with Bamboo with the cf roof. It looked hot. Ideas? Thoughts? pics?

I used to love Jerez but for some reason have soured on it a bit...don't know why.
Given your two choices, I'd go with the Melbourne (if you don't think you'll get tired of a red car). It looks great and it's relatively rare. If it were me, doing it over again, there is absolutely no question that I would order one of the blues. And...Bamboo looks good with both of them.

There is a Jerez one in my parking lot and I absolutely love it. I like how it can get away with being black, but for some reason makes you keep looking at it when you catch a bit of that dark purple in the light.
Edit: Okay just looked at a Melbourne Red one again... that's hot. Just do it. Last edited by ///Ben; 07-29-2010 at 07:29 PM.. |

Melbourne Red is the nicest color on this car while being the rarest, and black interior would definitely be best given that black and red go well together. Guess what I have?
Here's a nice photo but not sure who this car belongs to: Last edited by TailHappyM3; 07-29-2010 at 08:06 PM.. |

After seeing a couple of Melbourne Reds in person I would have to say that Jerez is better.
Here are my reasons (IMO): 1. It only looks really good during sunset 2. If its dirty it doesn't really have that gloss that a metallic paint does. I've seen many Jerez Blacks (all dirty) and they still have a slight gloss that you can tell. 3. Melbourne red doesn't change colors as dramatically as Jerez. Its either darker or lighter depending on the amount of light. Also I personally wanted the fox red seats but can't seem to get myself to like MR/FR combo. This might change since now you can get the Black Seats with Fox Red patches like on the frozen gray. Either way those are my opinions. You can't really go wrong with either color!

Not so. I actually think it looks more stunning in its deeper red tone. The looks this car gets is second to none and I've owned some very fine cars over the years. The M3 is all about passion and this is exactly what the red really brings out in this car IMHO. Also, MR is a metalic color and sure looks glossy to me all the time especially with those quick detailers. I find JB hides the beautiful lines too much and almost makes it look like a normal 3 series from far away. Anyways, every second car out there is black or white or in between so why not something else? They're all nice though.... |

I have JzB..never would have thought to get Melbourne when I ordered, but that colour is something. If you don't mind the attention of a red car, I really think that Melbourne/Bamboo combo is spectacular.

What about melbourne red and the new Fox Red/Black combo. There is more black than fox red.

Colour choice as we know is subjective - Melbourne Red is a nice colour but it is a regular colour that can be ordered with any M3...............there is a reason why it is the rarest.

+1. I personally don't like the red on the m3 at all, but then again I'm not a fan of red except for on a Ferrari. It some how makes the m3 look too tame. As has been stated, it's subjective. Despite the trouble keeping it clean, it's hard to beat black or jerez. I also like space grey.

This is the hottest MR I've seen... isn't that bamboo interior as well?

Not a big Jerez fan but If I was to get black I'd get Jet Black/Bamboo or Fox Red.
Honestly, I really like the Mel. Red on this car. If I wasn't so conservative then i honestly would have got MBR. Absolutely beautiful color.

Maybe my biggest thing is that i can't get the fox red interior with MR I'm pretty much set on the fox red interior. OP you should consider JZB with Fox Red/Black Interior that is being offered for September. Either way I like how this thread is going... relevant to my interests. Maybe we can get some more pics up in here to compare the two.

I like the JZB a lot. Then again I'm biased since it's what i just got. I can't really get into the red for some reason, but it's always cool to see the different colors.

Jerez is great, but imo, it doesn't contrast well. The front details (intakes grille, etc.) just wash out. MR on the other hand contrasts well, and is a nice, complex color as well. Plus, with the CF roof, the contrast is even better. Lastly, it's one of those colors that looks really well with the ZCP wheels.
