which used oils do you separate out
so.. car has engine oil, transmission fluid, diff oil, brake fluid and ps fluid. they're all technically "oils" but how far do you go in separating them out when recovering? i bring my stuff to an auto shop down the street and i don't think they care much, but what's the "right" way? separate all of them? ok to combine the hydraulic fluids? thoughts?

Well, DOT 3/4 brake fluid isn't an oil. So that should be kept separate.

I can only imagine that the crap the oil recycling places get back is a mess of all kinds of crap, but I would think they have ways to chemically separate the various parts. I try to keep water out of the mix but just about everything else goes in.
Didn't think about brake fluid, but I tend to take an empty can to run the bleed into.
