Anyone try using E46 motor mount heat shields on an E9X?

Looking to replace my motor mounts with some Bimmerworld mounts, and was wondering if anyone has tried using the E46 type motor-mount heatshields on an E9X M3 with success? Additionally, it seems that I can only find the right-side part; are both the left and right side heat shields inter-changable?

This is the one I'm referencing:

Thanks!

There's only one heatshield in the E46 application because exhaust manifold is on the right side.

It's probably not needed in the E9x platforms due to where the exhaust manifold is located, but give it a whirl, it's only $10/each.

That makes perfect sense, much appreciated!

I purchased two, will report back here regarding fitment upon install with Bimmerworld engine mounts!

The e36 m3 heat shields are also an option, LINK.

Thanks! Saw that thread earlier and it's what turned me on to trying the E46 plates. I'll definitely give those a shot if these don't work.

Do you need them? Any indication heat is making stock mounts fail as opposed to just wear and tear? I changed my mounts a couple of years ago and cannot recall the proximity to the headers. If it is just a few inches and you have intact primary cats that make the exhaust a little hotter, the shields might help.

Not quite sure. Im not running primary cats, just figured at $20 it can't hurt to try.

Exhaust side mount looked worse on my car than the driver's side after 34k miles.

Putting in the heat shield will likely cost you 0.000004 seconds per lap on the track, but your mounts will last longer.

Let us know how the NVH is with those bimmerworld mounts. At idle on the E46 they're noticeable, but once you get to 950 rpm no issues with NVH.
