LOL. Extra cost for the Rabbi to monitor the procedure and ensure the mod was executed to kosher standard.

Unreal. Two friends of mine both had the acm mod done by muffler shops for $200.
You got taken...this is not a "one off". The shop more than likely has done them before. They should be able to do 4-5 mufflers in 13 hours. Lot of extra gravy for the shop at that price. |

WOW! i mean we literally coined the term ACM mod, done a lot of them, and while our hourly rate is much more then that how in the hell did it take a fabricator a day and a half???? we do two to three in a day! We weld on new tips too and still are cheaper. Yikes....

I could have picked up a used MPE (installed) for about that much last month but passed.
I clicked this link hoping ACM was not the same as OEM mod. Got educated and a good laugh.

Of course and there was no mension of how the gridning of the welds went down, perhaps left over 2000 grit sandpaper?

There's paying higher that average prices for quality work, and then there's getting ripped off. Lesson learned. Enjoy your car and exhaust.

I have to say, I’m surprised the owner wouldn’t even consider reassessing the cost on this. Are business ethics that far gone? You would at least expect him to knock a little off the price...
I even wrote a check to help them out, since they’re a small business to avoid them getting hit with a 3% credit card fee. |

Part of me wants to reach out to them again and ask them to reconsider. If they don’t I might have to leave some reviews. The more I think about it the more frustrated I become with the situation... 13 hours is unreal.

Send him this video and ask him to reconsider. It's a diy of the mod. In the comments he states that it took a little over 2 hours to perform but it did help that his friend has a welding shop. Which would be similar to any exhaust or decent mechanic shops tools being available. All jokes aside, the shop has the right to charge whatever rate they want per hour. But what they do not have a right to do is charge more hours than a job should take due to incompetence. In my line of work (real estate appraisal) the first question I must answer is "am I competent to complete this report"". If I am not, meaning it's out of my county etc... then I must decline the work order. Sadly, I think they should have declined to do the work for you.
