2008 E90 M3 6MT Interlagos Blue Slicktop with Blown Engine
2008 M3 Sedan (E90) with 46k miles. Interlagos Blue with slicktop roof. 6spd manual transmission. Technology package. Palladium Silver interior with carbon leather. VIN: WBSVA93548E215936. I was moving the car around my parking garage and it started idling roughly and then immediately went into limp mode. Spoke with Martin Motorsports who thought it was throttle actuators or fuel pump and that it was safe to drive a few miles to the shop. Engine cut out on the way and wouldn’t restart. Had it towed to the shop. When the shop inspected, there was metal in the oil, damage to rear corner of engine block, and engine wouldn’t turn by hand more than halfway. Unclear if this is rod bearings but seems very likely. It’s unfortunate since I’ve had clean Blackstone oil analyses over the past 10k miles, and the car has had no issues over the past 3.5 years that I’ve owned it. Bought it from a forum member, have detailed serviced records, and overall have carefully cared for the car. The car is in great cosmetic shape. Exterior is very good aside from a few rock chips. Wheels are nearly perfect with new tires. Interior is excellent. Starting an engine swap is beyond my expertise. Additional info available on request. |

If my wife wouldn't immediately divorce me I'd be on your doorstep. Agreed getting the engine swapped and still having sub 50k on the chassis for under $20k will be a steal for someone.

Would've been perfect for the project I had planned if it was DCT. I needed to pull the engine anyways
I'm sure it'll go quick, sending to a few friends for you.

GLWS OP, such a bummer :/
Is the engine seized? Rod bearings do not cause engine seizing as I know, can it be the main crank bearings? Last edited by buglinjo; 12-11-2020 at 12:45 PM.. |

Someone should buy that guy's Gintani E93, rip the engine out of it and put it in this thing. Having a 700 HP Turbo E90 would be a hoot, though not sure if the 6MT would hold the power.

Good looking car, unfortunate situation.
The costs add up though. Used motor, replacing the rob bearings/bolts, might as well update to the 2009+ clutch and flywheel and replace motor mounts. Plus a few grand in labor if you're not doing the work yourself. |

I appreciate the forum support here. Thanks for that. There have been quite a few PMs - I have now replied or been in contact with all that are currently interested.
To answer a few common questions: the car has not been in any accidents. Clean Carfax which I can provide upon request. Title is clean and I own outright. Please let me know if I can answer any other questions. |

Hate to see this happen but I sincerely hope this goes to a good home from this forum and we get to see its build.
GLWS.
