In my mind the vert is mostly for women and guys who really dont care about performance loss.

And I'm one of those. I'm definitely getting the M3 "vert" and don't think I will EVER track the car, so don't care about a couple of tenths of seconds in 0-60 performance. What I DO care about is the "potential" of all that power and customizable behaviors (through "M" button), and the look and feel of the e93 M3 vs. vanilla e93. Can't wait to have mine!

The only convertible a man should be caught driving in is one that was built before 1970 or cost over 150k...

Well it is a posermobile, trophy-wife track car. At least we established that all the other M3 variants are good and balanced (the sedan is only 25 LBS more than the coupe)

Cab weight
Are you comparing like specs.? We've seen the E92 vary from 3,480 to over 3,600 lbs in various documents.

No sense knitpicking about a couple of pounds when the REAL issue is that you won't be able to read your Blackberry due to the cowl shake!

+1......I never understood an M convertible, because M is about performance, and there is nothing "performing" about a convertible. Just my .02

Sometimes you have to betray some principles to sell cars. It's BMW's way of selling out. BMW will sell an obscene amount of E93 M3's. Isn't it true that Porsche sells more 911 Turbo Cabrios than Coupes? Even if they don't, it's definitely a cash cow like their Cayenne, which speaking of devil, is Porsche's way of selling out as we all know

Of course it's a way of selling.
Do you guys think that BMW makes car just for fun?? They don't care if you track the car or just use it to ride at 10MPH in South Beach. They want to sell. With that difference in weight, the numbers will be heavily affected. |

The allowable load in the E92 is 400kg.
Does anyone know what the useful load is for the E93? I notice there is no EDC button in the E93 M3 photos. Is this optional or were they forced to stick with standard, perhaps stiffer, springs and dampners? Imagine that E93 with 4-up! Bring on the 2 tonne club |

still a p-car
The vert is 0.5s slower from 0 to 100km/h than the coupe. So it's still a p-car, only that in this case p stands for "poser".
