Substantial weight differential helps also. My e90 was stock suspension and brakes so not really apples to apples.

Yep my e46 is stripped interior, carbon blank. Need to still pull excess wiring and hvac but that's about it. That weight makes huge difference.

E46 M3 Manual KW CS NT01 Extremely hot today...a bit disappointed compared to my E92 times but I think once winter arrives I should get closer. **my buddy's friend took his 100% STOCK F80 M3 and ran 2:03:4 (never even adjusted tire pressure, went up to 46-48psi) E46 Vid And a nice big spin over Phil Hill!

OEM tires on the F80? If so that's a great time.

Hey guys, went on my first track day ever to WSIR! Had vbox sport timing it and everything. First lap was 1:57 but ended up with a fast lap of 1:39! Could have shaved off another second if I were in the proper gear exiting turn 9

Never ran the old surface in this car. Previous Buttonwillow lap times w e46m3 and e90m3 on 1st page of this thread. I've heard ppl say new repave is worth 1-2 seconds ....but not confirmed. Maybe someone else can chime in to confirm or dispell. |

From that experience, I'd say that the repave of the whole track is going to be generally the same. And from what we're hearing from the Speed Ventures event, it seems to be the case. It sounds like people were sliding around quite a bit out there at the SV event. My guess is by October, the track will be getting in good shape---the track will have cured, some rubber will be down on it and the weather will be more friendly so the track surface temp will be cooler for better grip, and the friendlier weather will be kinder to our engines which will keep our power levels up. At that point, people should start to improve on their previous Buttonwillow times. |
