Saab 9000 Tuning

So, im thinking about possibly picking up a saab 9000 this summer for a little project car to mess with. Im looking to get one for around $1500 and then do some tuning work.

Im planning on doing everything myself so it should be fairly cheap. going to try and get the car to the 300whp which doesnt seem too tough.

Does anyone have any experience with these cars? How's the reliability? Mainly im concerned about the strength of the head gasket because there a pain in the ass to fix.

Not sure if anyone will have advice but thought i would give it a shot.
