Maybe selling my e92 M3

I am thinking about selling my e92 M3 for something different. I want to build power and don't get me wrong I love the NA but it lacks the power I am looking for.

I know I can put a SC kit on it for around $8,000 but I could use that money for a different car, which will make more power than the M3 with little bolt ons.

What do you guys think ?

@roastbeef

I'm not really looking for a dragster, I'm just looking for something I can have a more power. But you right 100% on what makes me happy

Yup.

Personally, I don't think I'd do any power mods to my M3--I'd rather just get a car with the power I'm looking for.

See I like that I have to work the engine to get something out of it, makes it more exciting for me. But if you can swing it, then I'd consider the M2C.

Yea you right. Ima buy an SC and get the full potential out of the car. I just love the sound of a NA engine.

You will not miss the NA induction sound once you have a SC.

The ESS G1 kit is 7500 and gives you 580whp that are completely reliable.

What platform are you talking about similar cost-wise that gives you that kind of power?

Depends on what you want to do with the car bud, if you only care about straight line speed, then yes, get a muscle car.

If you care about the handling, quality etc, then keep the M3 and supercharge it.

and with current EAS memorial coupon code, you get 10% off which is a sweet $750. or just wait till black friday for 20% off. Kind of a bargain at 6 grand honestly. some people spend more than half of that on wheels

I agree the NA sound is great, but the massive power jump is like an event every time I drive the car. I own a motorcycle as well (Aprilia Tuono 1100rr) and driving my car is right up there with the exhilaration provided by the bike.

Yes, for sure one must decide whether to trade wonderful induction music for a crapton of power. Driving a 600whp E9X has to be extremely entertaining!!

After I posted my reply above, I took my car out for a Sunday drive. It is indeed entertaining...

OP, I think everyone here agrees. Keep your car!

E92 is plenty fast and more than you can safely use on the public road.

I dont even get why so many people SC them. Its perfectly balanced at ~400whp. As others have said if you want a drag car this (or any BMW) is not the best starting point.

I completely agree that a stock E9x M3 is more than fast enough, however I would like to offer another perspective. The E9x M3 chassis (with supporting mods) is not overwhelmed by more power. I can only speak to my set up, while its fast, it really feels like a much stronger version of its former self. With the ESS kit, brake upgrade and a set of coilovers these cars are great.

I have had many big power cars in my past. I will say with certainty it is no where near as violent as any of the american V8 offerings with a supercharger (mustang GT500, camaro ZL1, corvette Z06, hellcat, etc.). Honestly adding a supercharger really only makes it hold its own with the cars produced today.

I think that's the thing though. Why spend so much money trying to make it like the cars you listed? Why not just buy one of those cars instead? None of these cars have great resale and are definitely something attainable in the used market. And let's be honest, once you buy a factory blown V8, you have so much more room for power than anything close to what you'll reliably get out of the S65. If you're always chasing what's modern, you're always going to be disappointed with what you own.
