I have been running B8 for a couple of years on my 08 E90 M3 street car with H&R Sport springs, and like them.

I'm looking at potentially a set as well to match some springs, but I'm predominantly looking at the B6 for the damptronic. Ether that or go ham for the PSS10 lol

PSS10 and 16 are supposed to be great but obviously more money. I have the standard suspension and just wanted some quality struts/shocks that were short enough that I no longer needed cut guide tubes and different bump stops to run with H&R springs. I paid $200 for a used set

I'm looking at some springs at the moment as well, but I'm going to just modify the bump stops and use the stock shocks for as long as I can. When they crap out, I'll move up to the PSS10. |

I ran the stock non-edc shocks with H&R Sport for a few years, with cut guide tubes and E36M3 bump stops. I suffered one bad upper strut bearing during this time, but it could have been due to a pothole or bad bump rather than the reduced stability from the cut base. They worked fine for me, but the used B8s for $200 were a no brainer, and allowed me to go back to unmodified strut mounts and stock bump stops for suspension travel. Also, my car is an 08 and at that point my stock shocks were 7 years old.
If I keep the car, I might go to coil overs, but I think the B8 are a great replacement shock. The B6 would probably be fine as well unless someone wanted more drop than the typical mild lowering spring. The only issue I have has nothing to do with the shocks/struts. In my driving, roads are not perfect and I have to go up driveways on hills, and sometimes scrape the front undertray. I have replaced it once, and might go to the deansbimmer flat metal version next time since I think it provides a little more clearance by emininating the drop downs on the sides (or offers a sacrificial version of those wings). |

It seems that very few guys here run Bilsteins. That's odd to me since there isn't a Koni offering at all.
I could do without the EDC and would just go HD's with Dinan springs. |

I have had these sitting in my garage for a few months now waiting to put them on this spring. I have eibach's with e36 bump stops. Apparently if you have lowering springs these are the shocks to pair them with.

it's so odd! You'd think this would be a cash cow for them! EDC replacement shocks!

Bilstein in general seems to have production capacity issues. In the off road world, I know someone that had their order pushed back for 6 months since they ordered. He finally gave up, cancelled and bought a different brand that shipped the next day.

From what I have been told - in 2017 Bilstein moved their production facility and also simultaneously reworked their supply chain. It has caused massive shortages for certain items, B8 shocks being one of them. I know, because I have been waiting for mine since October...
This is very encouraging, as this is the exact setup I have settled on for my 08 E90 Already have my springs on, just need my dang shocks to get here!! I'm worried about my current shocks, I know they are not designed to work with lowering springs. |

That is super interesting, I might need to get more details about that from you. It looks like I will be waiting longer than I hoped for my B8s

The details are well known. It’s what Dinan did. Malek did a thread with pictures long ago. But if you can get the B6 or B8 or a Koni equivalent then you don’t need to cut the strut mounts or buy E36M3 bump stops since the aftermarket struts and shocks have shorter internals that offset the suspension travel loss from shorter springs.

Are there any reviews on the m3 forums for the Bilstein B6/B8 Shocks with mild lowering springs, like Eibach's or H&R's??
Or even better a review of the Bilstein B12 kit on the E90 M3? Has anyone went from a setup like the B12 kit to the Bilstein PSS10? How was going from a shock/spring setup to an adjustable Coilover Suspension Setup? How about for street/mild track use? Im looking for something to replace the non EDC suspension setup i have... The Bilstein B12 kit is basically exactly that. B8 struts/shocks & Eibach Pro-Kit lowering springs. The Bilstein B12 box has the Eibach Pro-Kit lowering springs box inside of it, with the 4 Bilstein Shocks along side it. The Bilstein B12 kit is $850-900 shipped. Which is a great deal, considering if you peiced it all together it would cost you $1000-1200 depending on where you sourced the individual parts from.. The B8's have internal Bump Stops. So all you would really need is new upper strut mounts, and new rear upper shock mounts. Anthony |

One on my 330Ci in Europe One on my 330Ci One on my E46M3 One on my X5 It's a fantastic kit. I tracked the E46M for years with it as well. I don't know why people look elsewhere. This is all the performance most people need unless you're into heavy tracking |

So... installed my pair of B8 rears, replacing stock sachs shocks with about 60,000 total miles on them (car has 105k on it, 45k of that I had MCS on the car). Goal is to get back some rebound damping that the stock shocks immediately disappointed me with when I put them back on at about 80k miles. Was very sad. No more perfect control over big hits. STock shocks only had 35k on them and you could immediately tell the difference, the shocks just weren't able to generate the kind of damping force the MCS could even when turned down to street friendly settings. Hoping the B8's, designed to handle cars that have been slammified, will help without being expensive or sending me down a never ending rabbithole of spring/damper changes. I run ZCP springs on my '08, with extra camber and a dinan front bar.
Stock dumper weighs 2.032kg. Bilstein B8 dumper weighs 2.119kg. So I gained 174g of damping woot, that's way more damping. The bilstein shaft is about 1/2" shorter at the bumpstop cup shoulder than the stock shock fully extended, so there will be slightly less droop travel. THis makes sense for a damper designed for shorter travel to begin with. The body length is within 1mm of the stock shocks, so bump travel is the same. Haven't driven yet, will report back. Fun fact - if you've already cut holes in your trunk liners for adjusters, it makes installing shocks a snap, took 45 minutes to do both sides. Edit: drove on them and they don’t suck at all. Need to hit some of my other usual big highway woops and dips that upset the car on she stock shocks to be sure but so far it seems mission accomplished. Ride is pretty much the same.

The B8's in back have cured my car's twerking over big hits. Not really a worn shock thing, it's always done this on the stock fixed shocks, not enough control in bump or rebound.
Back to a nice controlled absorption and rebound over things like mid-corner drain bumps, culvert woops, and the like. Still haven't tried it on the Mother Of All Slow-Motion Sewer Collapses under I-64 downtown, which is where I became a true believer in PimpShocks(tm) but when I do get a chance I'll let y'all know if better. Ride generally is the same. The disconcerting part is I was unconsciously bracing myself for big bumps and I'm finding they are not big anymore. Downside - now I'm tempted to get the struts too, but the stock struts are pretty trick pieces and I've never felt like they lacked damping so I'll hold off for now.

Have you considered having the shock rebuilt or re-valved if that might be an option?
