I will buy the M4 most likely but will also keep the M3.
Since my F10 M5, E90 M3, and 7 series are all four door sedans, it time to add a daily drivable coupe to the fleet. I assume the M4 will be like a baby M5. Less raw than the current M3 but more comfortable and torquey.

im making the move....already parted out my car. Will most likely get a sedan this time around vs the coupe. The lack of torque and low MPG doesnt do it for me anymore

I will get the competition / csl edition of the M4 when that comes out. Overall improvements and enhancements should be worked in by then. I won't get first year, there's always issues, and with the tri-turbo, who knows how big they'll be.

If by "next M4" you're referring to the second generation M4 that will start being designed in 2018, available ~ 2022...

I'll wait for the bugs and LCI and then get a 4 door. I'm tired of the hassle that comes with a coupe in terms of passenger accommodations....but I'll be hanging on to my V8 screamer as well.

Definitely on my list though. Only thing I am not happy about is the name change. The original M3 was a coupe after all, and the name is legendary. Too many models in the line up now that don't offer major differences, especially with this new gran coupe thing.

I never understood why people say this and don't consider myself to be lucky at all. I've had one of the first 99 e46 and 07 e92 models produced and both were were extremely reliable. I've had more problems with the cars made in the middle of the lifecycle than early on (11 M3 and 02 X5).
BMW usually tests all new technology in the more expensive 5 & 7 series before it hits the 3 series. And with the 3 series being the cash cow, BMW can't afford large scale quality issues and usually gets it right the first time. Hopefully this answers the OP question of whether I'm getting the new M4. Without a doubt

Whats with not wanting the first production year?
06 M5 - No Problems at all LCI came out in 09 right? 09 M3 - No problems at all LCI came out in 11 12 M5 - No problems at all LCI? I dont know why everyone loves the LCI version but to me its not worth the 2 year wait. |
