I drove to cars and coffee, then made a pit stop on the way home to buy some candles for the home office. (I have this new love of candles, don't ask)
Pitstop photo: Then went home. BTW - launch control worked today, same exact spot too. |

Never mind the candles. That parking lot, OTOH, looks like it would be a great place to drift if I ever decided that I would need to get new tires soon. Ever give it a run there?

Finished up about a month of downtime
Had a buddy help tack together this bushing removal tool using Home Depot steel for only a few bucks. This plus a torch worked great. Thought I'd be clever and freeze the bushings with dry ice + isopropanol, but this did not work...at all. Ended up using a press and they went in like butter. |

akkando I changed a bunch of things so it would be hard to attribute the new ride performance to the subframe bushings alone, but the car is extremely planted now. Before the rear end refresh, when I left hard from a stop the back end would swap side to side pretty noticeably. It now tracks straight.
There is a considerable amount of gear whine transferred into the body now, but that's because I hard mounted everything. It's a weekend/track car so I'm good with that. |

Put a battery maintainer on it. Headed over the pond to Romania for a drive on the Transfagarasan highway, Jeremy Clarkston 's favorite road.

Went for a wee rip with the older sibling. Great afternoon for a drive.

Drove it outside to the garage so I can bring my GFs Lancer inside to do an oil change.

Tossed together a video of my quickest lap at Summit Point last week, was able to shave 4 seconds off my old best lap time. Down to a 1.24:28

I’m tempted to upgrade to solid subframe but torn on what else is worth replacing “while I’m in there” at only 50K. Costs can runaway fast, and I suspect a lot is in fine shape. |

stainless brake lines on subframe, diff bushings, sway bar bushings. thats about it for while yer in there doing the subframe bushings. The control arms can be done with the subframe in the car, so no urgent need to replace at that time.
