You don't - and I don't - and even the guy I go through doesn't - he has to email somebody else.

They will not distribute a list. The process is: I email my contact the color requested at BMW NA - who then emails his contact higher up in BMW NA who has to approve or disapprove of the color. It then gets back down the chain to me. Custom colors in the US is a very new thing - as for the last few years they have stopped doing it entirely. They are just starting to quietly allow orders of custom colors, but they have no official process of doing it, partly to keep the amount of orders down. They are not ready for a regular custom color program. Before, it used to be $2,500 on the E46 generation and it was easy as cake. Now, all custom paint is $5,000 and it is a long winded, guessing game process to figure out if it can happen.

This is the reason so many of you are finding so much trouble finding a client advisor wanting to do this type of work

No clue - I'd have to look into it. But probably not right now.

I called up BMW's 1-800 number today to check on my car's status. They told me it started production one week early (week 39 on Sep 24). I also asked them what color they had listed for it. She said "laguana." I think she needs more training!

Ahh I was asking because production to pickup for me was a lot longer than what you are predicting. However, I was Mil Sales and Mil Sales cars wait a lot longer at the ports......

Yours should be right on time!

I have just recieved allocation for a September build 2009 E92 M3 Coupe in Laguna Seca Blue!!! =) They said they can only allow very few M3 Coupes to be painted in this color (they told me somewhere under 5 units worldwide for 2009 model year). They said the reason why I got allocation is because I am requesting it so early in the 2009 year.

I am having it built to the following allocation:

Color: Laguna Seca Blue / Black Novillo Leather
Options: DCT, 19" Wheels, Premium Package, Technology Package, Carbon Leather Trim, iPod, Carbon Fiber roof.

If anybody is interested in this car, I would be happy to modify it accordingly with a deposit. The extra cost for the paint is $5,000. This car will be sold at MSRP.

I'd love for this extremely rare car to go to somebody on my sponsored forum!

Anyways - just wanted to let you know that there will be at least one Laguna Seca Blue E92 M3 Coupe around!

This is my all-time favorite BMW color - and while it isn't for everybody - it definitely SCREAMS ///M.

Can't wait to show you guys some pictures!

Will

Glad someone else finds it funny. I was reading my manual and the brochure while in a goofy mood. Thought I'd have a little fun at the expense of the BMW marketing folks and their wordy language. Oh and the first one is a big of a dig at the 6MT crowd, but I figure I am allowed since I do drive a 6MT also.

I'm waiting on a 6MT, and I do claim enjoyment of the extra driver involvement as one of the reasons for my choice, but I certainly appreciate the tongue-in-cheek humor of your sig. Some people here take this debate (and other personal choice issues) faaaaaar to seriously.

The first time I read it, I was imagining a Dr. Seuss-like car with tons of clutch pedals and shift knobs all over the interior and it made me laugh.
