Rod bearing install quotes

Hey guys, I got a couple of quotes from several shops. I don't understand why there aren't any shops on the east coast that charge similar to what SSR is doing in Cali. They have a package starting at $1250 for OEM bearings and bolts, and the prices go up to $1900 which include BE Bearings and ARP (BE spec) bolts.

Has anyone gotten it done in the Tri-state by a shop for even less than $2000? If so where was it?

Just bite the bullet and get it done at ACM. I wouldn't trust anyone else around here. Or ask SYT shadow for help.

We have spent tons of time being able to provide the service to hundreds of e9x m3's. With the cost of parts (The right ones), what we pay technicians who are able to perform the job without headaches or issues EVERY SINGLE TIME, as well as the north east independent mechanic and dealership labor rates, our price is built from these three instances. The last thing to mention is that we are also a business and have to make some form of a profit on the job to stay in business for the community here in the north east.

I understand the $2,499.99 + tax is still a hard price to chew on but for what you get its worth it over and over again imo.

I had mine done at ACM where I have always taken my car, great shop and would definitely recommend.

Was it worth it? Only for peace of mind. My bearings had some wear at 30k miles but nothing alarming at all. Car could of gone on for a long time. There is a lot of forum hysteria around what is a very rare issue. Ignorance is probably bliss in a lot of ways.

We can get them or we can install them if you get them. We don't push it as we prefer the WPC treated ones. We do not stock them though.

Definitely recommend acm to do the job. Mine was done at acm and I wouldn’t recommend anyone else to do this. A few extra bucks for the professionals perform this job is definitely worth it.

$2,500!? LMFAO! I've done this job before on my own and with parts included it's not a $2,500 job but I'm sure you guys will have more than enough d-bags driving these cars in the area that don't know any better that would be willing to pay that. I say good for you if you're able to keep getting people to pay that.

Damn Felicia, what’s with the hostility? Leave that nonsense talk in the Midwest.

Glad you have had the resources to do the job on your own, most of us don’t. It’s either we don’t have time, want or don’t care to potentially screw something up(maybe missed a torque spec) and need a new motor after that. I’m at the don’t have a want and don’t care to need a new motor. These are words coming from someone who CAN do the work but don’t want the liability.

$2500 is fairly common and aggressive for Autocouture to offer the community. Top of the line parts, followed by an alignment and oil change.
The professionalism and work they provide is unmatched specifically for the E9x M3 community and their rod bearing special deal. Of course labor might be jacked up but there is overhead and people that need to be paid.

Theres alot of liability involved with doing rod bearings, you can pull a cap and find a scored crank and then have a car dead on your lift for, weeks.

Some people have zero concept of overhead costs, what they are, and what they provide.

Rent, insurance, property tax, utilities, equipment depreciation, work and parts guarantees, materials disposal, payroll tax, staff to: schedule and manage, order parts, keep a tight and orderly facility, and on and on.

They compare their direct costs, discount their time invested significantly (research, planning, parts ordering, etc., actual real time to do the job), exclude any tools purchased / needed to be purchased, believe their labor and processes are comparable to a professional shop & technician, ignore there is more work typically associated (e.g. alignment and oil change) then throw a LMFAO to conclude their thought process. Brilliant, thanks for your contributions.

I agree Jeff, I have had my e93 serviced and upgraded over the past 4 years with ACM and I haven't been disappointed yet including my Rod Bearing upgrade and multiple performance upgrades. Peace of mind on a six figure car is worth every penny!!!

When buying a used car and the owner “did the bearings himself”, it’s a walk away.
